Odd smell -- 2010-08-10
I bought the mini ionic air purifier for my office. I have dust allergies and thought it would help. Unfortunately it emits an unpleasant, metallic odor. I believe it may be the ozone which other reviewers have mentioned. This odor gives me a headache and makes me feel ill. I have stopped using the mini air purifier and would not recommend purchase of it. I am now considering getting a more traditional air purifier which has a filter.

Amazon.com does not provide the dimention of products, so I was surprized that this product was so small. It makes noise when being on for a long time and that's a little scary. It's hard to tell if it works but I hope it does.

Horrible Waste. -- 2010-06-28
When we got this set, I loved it, and while it worked, it worked great. Both my son and I have horrible allergies and this kept us from suffering.
HOWEVER!! About 1 year after I dished out the $175 I paid for these units, one stopped working. I called customer support, who told me a replacement would be no problem, but tech support would have to call me back. Tech Support called a few hours later and was very heavily Indian accented, I had a hard time understanding, but after doing what he suggested, the unit still wasn't working so I called the direct number he gave me. He told me I needed to buy the extended warranty (2 more years) for $30. At first I thought this was great, until he told me then it would be $30 for them to send the unit back to me, after I paid to ship the unit to them... That means I would spend $90 on one unit to get it "fixed"! It was insane to me.
The other unit followed suit and died a few months later.
Please save your money and don't get this unit. It won't last.
Excellent value for the money... -- 2010-06-28
We live in an older building, which means we have mold. After the air conditioning system clogged and spilled water down the walls, we ordered this set. The package arrived withing four days of ordering. I think that is very prompt service.
The Ionic Pro Air Purifiers have reduced the dust, lint (in the sewing room) and odor in the apartment. The units are easy to clean, though we will be buying spare fins before Winter. They are so quiet, and do not interfere with sleep, conversations, or listening to TV or radio. The nicest asset is the lack of the musty, mildewed "aroma" we smelled every time we came in from the outdoors.
The bonus car ionizers do work, but we drive with windows down, so can't give an accurate assessment of their abilities. I would (and have) recommended this product to friends and family who have allergy-related problems.

I live in NYC in a one bedroom apt that's around 650 sq feet. I have two cocker spaniels, a siamese cat and two parrots(African Gery and Red Bellied). I have a cleaning lady that comes twice a month and figured these purifer's would assist with the dust and dander of my pets. I've never had an air purifer before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I did love there industrial look. I figured they would match perfectly with the look of my place. Not to mention the price was nice too. Iv'e had them for 2 1/2 weeks now and I have no complaintes at all. They are small enough to stick in any corner of my place. I decided to put one in my bedroom and the other in the livingroom. They are super quiet and the blue light can work as a night light. After the first week I took out the metal rods and saw nothing on them. I then grabbed a white cloth to wipe them down and wow to my amazement a ton of brown/black stuff was all over the cloth.
It's only been 2 1/2 weeks but so far so good I really like them a lot. :)

yes it is ionic and it does have a uv filter BUT the "odor absorbing carbon filter" is nothing more that a piece of mesh screening and does not provide proper filtration, BUT it does seem to do well with its ionic cleaning.

I purchased this for my duaghter who is in ninth grade to help her with her asthma. You know how all the girls wear so much perfume and air freshners are sparyed everywhere. She wears it faithfully in school and out at friends house. Recently she went to a party where they had a fire burning int eh fireplace. Her comment was she never would have been able to breathe if she did not have it! It saved her from a severe astham attack! She also finds it helpful in the car when we get stuck behind exhaust!
excellent product -- 2007-10-18
I work in a smoky environment. I was never able to work more than three days in a row due to an asthmatic reaction to the smoke. The day I got this, I never had any problems due to smoke at work again. I can work as many days in a row as I want. Also, a side effect of its use that I have noticed is that I don't get sick anymore due to work. This purifier kills airborne viruses and and bacteria. I used to get sick a lot because my work has so many different people entering from around the world- but no more. It is also good for my allergies when I visit a friend's house with a cat. If I am having a sneazing or watery eye reaction, I'm cleared up soon after I turn this on. I use this religiously.
It is one of my most favorite belongings.

I had bought this unit because I did not want something ugly and did not like the idea of consumables. The IonFlow 50 is a looking design but the construction is cheap for the price you pay. The power LED was loose when I received the unit. It did not work to my expectations even when following the placement instructions. It does pick up particles but very little for the week I had it on. Still a very good looking unit though! Don't waste your money!! -- 2010-07-17
I bought this product as part of a 3 pack that included the large, compact, and auto purifier. The larger unit died about 6 months after I bought it and now the compact size will not run. I cleaned both of them and that's when the problems started. After cleaning the compact unit it will not turn on without quickly turning on the clean lite and shutting down. The larger unit had a similar reaction to being cleaned. I replaced the larger one with a Rabbit Air HEPA filter and it is much better to maintain and I think it actually does something in the room. All the Ionic pro did was waste my money! Find something else!
Nice product, BUT buy a 3m filtrete air purifier instead! -- 2010-02-19
First of all, this is a nice product, but mine stopped working about 6 months of owning one, very disapointed I like the fact that there is no filter to replace, all you need to do is clean the blades everytime it gets dirty, but I am still not 100% sure if it is really filtering or just collect some of the dust that blows through and get stuck onto the blades, also I do not like the fact that it releases ozone.. O3, instead of O2 which is oxygen. It shouldn't be harmful but its a bit unsettling to know. I give this thing 2 stars because it failed on me after 6 months, i took care of it and cleaned it often, maybe I got a lemon because it seems like no one else had that problem.
I recommend the 3M products instead. Ionic pro is nice and slick, but its so nice that its too good to be true, the 3M air purifier is just straight forward and you know its doing a better job filtering than the Ionic pro. It would be nice if all the air purifiers had did not have filters to replace so we could all save a lot of money in the long run, but the fact is, you pay for the replacement filters so that you get what you pay for, it will do the job of truly purifiying the air instead of the fancy smancy gimmicky blades that you clean from the ionic pro. To me the ionic pro is a trying to be wanabe imitation alien technology that doesnt really work all the way 100%. The 3M products definitely work 100% all the way and I would definitely spend more money on real performance. If a product does not perform to the best of its capacity, to me it is just a waste of money. Also it is your health, there is no price for your health, being healthy is worth spending the extra bucks, buy the 3M products instead!
Ionic pro is cool, and it does work, but not as well as the 3M air purifiers. Maybe in 50 years in the future there will have technology good enough to truly make an air purifier that does not need a filter replacement, until then, you have the ionic pro which is a wanabe imitation "alien technology" that does not truly work to its full potential. Also in the future, the hopefully can make the ionic pro not release ozone (O3), and release oxygen (O2) which is what we humans would rather breathe.

I love this purifier. It works great. I never knew how much unhealthy particals are in my air in my home. The air in my home always smells so clean. This purifier is so quiet i have to put my hand in front of it to tell if its working. Well worth the money. I wish i had purchased one a long time ago.

I find it to be very similar to the more expensive Sharper Image product. I've had those for years and when they give up the ghost I looked for something that was going to be as easy to clean and work effectively. I think I have found it and costing less.
no more sniffles -- 2009-12-19
bought this for my father-in-law, as an early christmas gift. he loves it. he said, from the first day he got it, he woke up with no sniffles and clear headed. we purchased it for him, after reading reviews on the cost of filters and overall pain of having to change them. this model simplified everything. no new filters to buy and easy to clean. so far, so good - it makes him happy.

Made Big Difference -- 2010-06-12
For the price, it's a very good whole house humidifier. It's dry in Arizona where we live, and my spouse had problems with dry nasal membranes that caused allegy-like symptoms. The humidifer has made a tremendous difference, putting at least five gallons of moisture into the living area every day. The house interior temperature seems more comfortable than before, even with the AC set at 80 degrees.
It does take some effort re-filling the 2.5 gallon tank (weighing around 20 lbs.), but that would be typical of any large humidifier. Bacterial-static solution to prevent algae, mold, etc. must also be added with each re-fill.
My only complaint is that it's really noisy at any speed beyond the minimum speed, which we usually use. There is also a very subtle vibration rattle that is barely noticeable. Even at low speed, it might not be appropriate for use in a bedroom for anyone who is a light sleeper. However, the noise (on minimum speed) is not that noticeable elsewhere. I would purchase this product again.
Humidifier is okay not sure how long it will last. -- 2010-03-22
The product is okay. I have been running it non stop for 2 months. Cheaply made, floater gets stuck so sometimes you have to shake the humidifier so it will turn on after refilling.
