Fantastic Odor Eliminator -- 2010-08-25
I'd never heard of the TrueAir Odor Eliminators before, but I'm so glad that I came across these units and the wonderful filters. I usually can't stand the masking of odors with more odors, it always seemed to defeat the purpose and I always end up disliking the smell later. These have made huge difference in the way our home smells while remaining fairly inexpensive, and I couldn't be happier.
We're currently renting a 2700sqft, single-story house, where there's a lot of dirt and dust that flies inside constantly. We also have 2 dogs and 2 cats, with the litter box being in the master bathroom, which unfortunately is partially exposed to the rest of the room, making it hard to avoid odors. Even worse is the fact that this section of the house doesn't get a lot of air circulation, to the point where opening the windows doesn't do us much good.
These filters have made a huge improvement and we no longer notice the catbox or dog smells in the bedroom or bath area. Better yet, my partner has stopped complaining about the (insert animal species name here) smells stinking up the place since I got these. I wasn't sure how these general filters would do against the ones that are designed for pet odors, but liked the price and gave it try. So far, they've been working beautifully.
They're also more fairly priced here on Amazon, of course, than on the manufacturer's website, which I love. Unfortunately, mine didn't last up to the 6-month mark that some claim, but rather 3 weeks with them constantly running before I noticed odors again - though nowhere near as bad as before I got these units. I expected this considering what they're up against in the house and I still feel that, due to the price, these are well worth the little money that they cost. They're also far more efficient, cost-effective, and healthier than typical household air fresheners that only seem to last a short while anyway.
Awesome product for getting rid of desi food smell -- 2009-12-23
Does a good job of trapping the aerosol particulate matters that are generated when garam masala is sauteed. If you are cooking spicy food on a regular basis the filter lasts for about two weeks, otherwise it runs for a couple of months. The replacement filters are cheap anyway.

Odor Removal for Small Spaces -- 2010-05-21
I'm adding a point for superior service from Best Point Sales; otherwise, I would have given this a three.
Best Point Sales got this item to me faster than I expected, and they threw in two extra filters for free. The item was in perfect condition and even included the registration paper. I would most definitely buy from this vendor again.
However, I would not buy another TrueAir odor remover. The appliance does remove odors, don't get me wrong. And it is compact, though it's only slightly smaller than its nearest competitor, the Febreze Odor Eliminator. The thing that puts the Febreze ahead of this model, though, is the fan. The TrueAir's fan is really loud. Distractingly so.
If you're going to be plugging this into a room where noise is not an issue, like for instance a busy garage, then this is a good buy. You also might want to consider it if the white noise is a bonus, like in a dorm room with thin walls. However, if you're plugging this into a room where you need quiet, I would recommend the Febreze model over this one.

Works great at eliminating both odors and dust, but changing the carbon filters is a pain. Especially since they don't sell them in stores.

How refreshing! An odor removal product that truly works by eliminating odors, not by covering them up, or adding any new chemicals into the air. I live in a small factory town in the Midwest and would literally wake up several times a night due to the various odors in the air sometimes (we're talking maybe about twice a month). Now I turn this little puppy to face my nose area whenever this happens and it takes effect in just minutes! The good thing is, you don't even have to have it on all the time for it to work. I just turn it on whenever I start to smell stuff, and turn it off when the air is back to smelling fresh. This way, I conserve the filter (they give you three with the product).
I might buy a second one for work. This was definitely one of my great buys this year!

I found this in a discount store and have been using it in the bathroom where I keep the litter box. Seems to work well in that small area. Yesterday I changed the filter and was shocked at how much dust and grossness it collected!
