light weight, efficient, and a little noisy -- 2010-08-28
This product is easily moved around, as it is light weight, and fits the window , very well, as it has an adjustable side. The main negative I find, is that it is noisy. It has a loud "whinney" type noise. So, if you're going to use it to bring in the cool air for just a while, then turn it off, it is great. However , if you are going to allow it to stay running while you sleep, it may take some getting used to. All in all, I find it efficient and an inexpensive way to cool the room or several rooms. It works just as easily as an exhaust fan, when turned around.

cheap window fan -- 2010-08-20
This was the least expensive window fan available with Prime shipping at the time I bought it for 29.47. It works as well as you'd expect, but it is pretty loud. Changing the speed from HI to LO doesn't really make it any quieter, it just changes the pitch of the noise. Other than that it works fine.

Unit does't feel warm/hot at all, it's that efficient -- 2010-07-17
Rest assure that most electricity it consumes turns into motion instead of heat unlike other fans. For the price & size of this, you can't beat its performance. Mine is clipped onto a stand & shoots towards the ceiling, this serves 3 purposes: 1) To distribute my aromatherapy essential oil more evenly, and 2) To avoid hot air being accumulated near the ceiling - this is beneficial for both winter (heat use) & summer (A/C use) as evening out enhances efficiency, and 3) To somewhat cool me down but I disallow any non-oscillating fan blowing towards me (dangerous). My only beef is its clip & other movable joints that are really not that sturdy & well-built, but passable if you don't move & re-position it frequently. Then again my other clip-on fan is the Hummer-like Vornado 540B clip-on. The Vornado's clip (& the whole unit itself in general) is definitely over-engineered. But it costs 4x more than this Holmes unit & it's a larger fan than this.

Perfect Personal Fan -- 2010-07-16
I needed a fan for my college dorm. I spotted this on display at Bed Bath & Beyond. It looked great for the price (around $15), so I bought it. I have been using it for 2 months, and never regretted the purchase for even a second.

The product feels very sturdy. I have no doubt that it will work for years to come. The clip can open to a maximum of 2", which was incredibly useful for me; the desk I own is a little thicker than most. The clip is padded, but I wouldn't risk attaching this fan to a delicate surface. The fan rotates fully around the base, and can point straight up, straight down, or anywhere in between without the need to adjust the clip. I use it at my desk, and on hot nights, I attach it to the head of my bed. I have yet to try hanging this fan from the wall.

On the 'low' setting, the fan is fairly quiet. The noise it makes isn't distracting, but if you're looking for something almost silent, this fan isn't for you. The 'low' setting blows a fair amount of air; the stream can be felt from a distance of four feet away. The 'high' setting is a little louder, but I don't find it to be much of a nuisance. Other people, however, might. The high setting isn't very necessary at close range, however, and the stream reaches about six feet.

All in all, this fan is a wonderful choice if you need something at a lower cost that does not compromise quality or power.

a few notes to help you understand what you are getting -- 2010-08-30
First of all I recommend this fan though I am going to give you a few reasons why you might not want it. The extension louvers are somewhat flimsy so you don't get a tight seal when installing it in the window. Secondly the feature of turning the fan off at a set temperature is a bit troublesome. If the temperature doesn't plummet suddenly.... the fan will turn off as it is supposed to. But then the temp will rise in the room so the fan will turn back on. But then it will turn back off. But then it will turn back on. Anyway you get the picture.... it can get a bit annoying under certain circumstances. I wish the "low" setting was a bit lower. But it does what it should do well. It is relatively quiet and I am a light sleeper. It has definitely improved the quality of my sleeping.

Works great -- 2010-08-29
I used to used a plain ol box fan, the ugly white ones that typically barely fit in your windows. I was so glad that I bought this fan, works great and is nice and quiet. It has 3 settings, and you can program it to turn on or off at a certain temperature, at least thats what the description says, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet, and I'm fine with using the settings 1-3 for the full night right now, especially since its been quite hot lately.

Overall, great buy and looks a lot better than my old fan.

Not a bad choice -- 2010-09-01
I bought this fan for use in my bedroom, which unfortunately does not have an AC. Really strong, but very noisy. I leave it on the lowest setting to make the noise level tolerable. Assembly wasn't too difficult, although you may need a thin philips screwdriver.

Overall, not a bad choice for a cheap fan, but you might find less noisier options elsewhere

Not perfect, but I have no complaints -- 2010-08-20
This fan is easy to put together, very quiet on low speed, and powerful on high speed. It makes some funny squeaks occasionally when it is oscillating, but it's not too annoying (and that may just be mine). I am satisfied with my purchase.

Greatest fan! -- 2010-09-08
This is the best fan I have ever had! I have six of them and ordered the newest one this summer. My oldest one, which is about six or seven years old, is still running perfectly. The best feature of this fan is the remote control that comes with it. You can turn the fan on/off, adjust three speeds, and do the other operations from anywhere in the room. My remotes have never stopped working and I've never had a single problem with the fans. The only drawback is cleaning them. I took one apart to clean it and I will never do that again! (We used this one in the kitchen and it had grease on the blades. Fans in the other rooms have not been a problem to clean.) The price is so reasonable for the product! Highly recommended!

Powerful but small fan! -- 2010-08-18
I've had a Holmes fan since 2002, a white one from target that was only $25. It was a 16" stand fan, and it wasn't nearly as powerful as this 12" fan. I love this fan! its awesome and quieter than my old one. I use it all the time. I love the remote, even though my old one had a remote too. Overall, this is a great and reliable fan! I will use this forever. Until it breaks, than I get the same exact one again.

Great little fan -- 2010-09-06
Perfect for using at a desk, which I did for awhile, then we needed a small fan in the baby's room and this is doing the job. It has been working for a few months now. It is quickly and easily moved just about anywhere you need it. The fan is easy to clean, quiet, and a good amount of air for its size. I've taken it to the patio a few times and clipped it to the table, or the back of a chair, it really does go anywhere.

We love this fan! -- 2010-09-03
We got it to fit in our bedroom widow and replace a china-mart special that was so loud we had to turn it off when we went to be (kinda defeats the purpose). The Bionaire is much, much, MUCH quieter and moves much more air. We can actually have it running all night and it isn't so loud you can't fall asleep with it running. We often set the temperature control so the fan goes on and off as needed. Love it!

Nice -- 2010-08-06
This fan is very effective for those of us who do not like air conditioning.

Nice inexpensive fan -- 2010-09-06
I bought this fan to cool off my garage,it does not move a tremendous amount of air but it does the job and is relatively quiet. I like the automatic temperature control feature.

good fan -- 2010-09-05
Nice fan, good circulation. I like the various settings and the fact that the fan will shut off when it reaches a certain temp.
Fairly quiet.

I use this fan in the bedroom... -- 2010-08-20
both to create some sound so I can sleep better, and to keep me cool. It does a good job of both. Sometimes I use the timer like an alarm clock and set it to shut off around the time I want to wake up. I hear it shut off and it catches my attention enough to wake me up. I like it.

Thisis a light-weight and silent fan that is on all the time. Just Great. -- 2010-07-30
This fan is silent, light-weight and excellent. I use it all the time in the summer heat.

Holmes HAOF87BLZ-UC 8IN Lil Blizzard Adjustable Table FanHolmes HAOF87BLZ-UC 8IN Lil Blizzard Adjustable Table Fan

Does what its supposed to, I guess -- 2010-08-31
I purchased this to replace a similarly-sized small fan that I had been using to cool electrical components in my room. My first reaction with this is that it is extremely LOUD for its size. There are two power settings and an oscillator, with the lowest power setting being extremely loud and the highest sounding much like a jet engine.

It does push a lot of air and the "Blizzard" in the name certainly lives up to that claim. I have this in one corner of my bedroom and my bed in the opposite corner and it blows such a strong current that if you left it on overnight you'd dry out your face and lips in the process, even if the fan is not aimed directly towards you. Not something I would recommend and if you're looking for a compact fan for a bedroom I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

I was hoping to just buy a basic fan that I could keep on 24/7 for moderate cooling properties and ambient background noise that I feel a necessity to aid in sleep. This thing is just too loud to keep on 24/7 so I cannot use it for those purposes. While I suppose you can say it does what it claims (blowing air), I certainly would not have purchased it knowing how obnoxiously loud it is. I would have really liked to return it but the return shipping costs probably would have amounted to what was paid for the fan itself, so that really isn't the wisest option. As eager as I am to immediately replace it, I suppose I'll be keeping it for now and will get some moderate use out of it; it will just require much more maintenance and interference than I would have preferred from a quiet fan.

fan -- 2010-08-03
I love this fan. It does the job for being so small. I have read where people complained about it being noisy, well let me tell you it is not. Great product. Just remember this is only for small spaces and not a huge room.
