Does a great job! -- 2010-03-05
The Rowenta DZ5080 does a great job for me! It has a extra pointy top which makes it much easier to get in small areas like around buttons, which is a big plus. Overall, a great iron.

Poor delivery from Amazon -- 2010-03-04
Hi,
I recieved thisitem after 4 days with no clue of tracking & when I opened it, it had water sprayed on it & it was evident that it was a used item.I reported it & they said they'd send a new item & it never turned up.I checked th Track Package & it showed me"Delivered". Usually these guys never knock the dorr but silently leave the item in the front door & there are chances that someone may have taken it.When I called mazon, they checked with the career & said the career himself lost the item! Then they said they'd give me $10 gift card..Shucks.I've been running only once used shirts for 12 days now & only now I've recieved the iron box.
I'll give a feedback once I use this one!

My wife loves this!! -- 2010-03-08
She said it is the best she ever had. Nice, wide, stable. Much better than the junk you find in discount retailers. Big national chains never have them in stock. Got it from Amazon, no problems!

Somewhere between 1-star and 5-star ratings -- 2010-03-05
Gave it a 4-star.

- quite sturdy.

- does not wobble.

- nice and wide.

- cover is decent quality.

- catch holds the legs firmly.

- height is fully adjustable in reasonable increments.

A lot of the nitpicking is just that, but it's not (to my thinking) an $80 ironing board. Could see $50 - 60.

However, certainly better than the cheapos from big box stores.

In other words a good piece of work but not quite up to my expectations based on the reviews. You won't be disappointed over the long haul, but the immediate impression is not quite as brilliant as you want it to be.

Good performance. I appreciate the 400 Hole plate and really like the weight. Considering I don't really like to iron, at least this makes ironing a more pleasant chore.

Love the high heat and steam that give my uniform a press almost as good as a professional dry cleaner.

Rowenta Travel Iron -- 2010-03-08
Bought the Rowenta travel iron for my cruise holiday, best travel iron ever. Nice compact size and comes in it's own zip up pouch. Has great functions the best one being the steamer. It's even better than my own house iron.

Best travel iron ever! -- 2010-03-04
Well, I was skeptical - I had many travel irons in the past that didn't get hot enough, didn't produce steam, etc. so this was to be my hopefully, last attempt to get a "good" one. The first unit leaked like a sieve, but it was replaced promptly, and the replacement is a champ! It gets hot, produces enough steam to use it vertically and is overall - terrific!Rowenta DA1560 Classic 1000-Watt Compact Iron with Stainless-Steel Soleplate

Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and SteamerRowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer

Rowenta DG5030 P.O.S. -- 2010-03-09
I bought the DG5030 Pressure Steam Iron, because my mother gave it great reviews. I've owned it for 2-years now. I thought Rowenta was suppose to be THE HIGH QUALITY product, so I spent the $150 for it. Unfortunately, the thing is FALLING apart. The hand piece has separated from the bottom iron part. When looking inside, I can see that the plastic has corroded away and in the front section at the point there are 2 "rust" circles that have broken through and the plastic is brittle and breaking away. Another thing this thing does in when warming up, after being powered on, say 30-seconds or so the ENTIRE unit jumps up & give s LOUD BANG, that probably isn't normal either.

Today, 3/8/2010, I called Rowenta Customer Service and explained this issue. I was told the unit is beyond repair and she (Tricia) would be able to send me a $10-$20 rebate towards my next Rowenta, YEAH RIGHT! I explained that I want a better resolution than that. I requested to speak with a manager and was informed that the manager would call me later this evening. That hasn't happened yet. I'll be taking pictures as well. Also, I'm considering reporting Rowenta to the Better Business Bureau, not really sure if that will bring satisfactory results either. This is just frustrating to believe that I bought a product I thought was HIGH QUALITY and turns out to be a P.O.S.!!!!!

From reading the other not so positive reviews, it looks like I'm not going to receive a follow up from them or anything else. I will not be buying from this company again.

If anyone knows of a better pressure steam iron brand, please share.

Thanks!

For the price - I think it's a good buy -- 2010-03-07
I bought this iron to iron impossible to iron polyester uniforms. I really enjoy putting nice sleeve creases and pant creases into them, but found that with a traditional iron, I couldn't get it hot enough to produce enough steam or to get a good crease into it. I put several shine marks on the fabric.

With my new pressure iron and steamer (PIAS, yes I just made that up) I can do this a lot more easily. Now reading all the comments about this PIAS I knew it wasn't perfect, but I don't always believe the really negative reviews when there are a bunch of positive ones. I shelled out the money and got it myself.

Issues
1) This thing does leak. I'm using it on a low steam setting and low iron temp. Whenever I move the fabric, I've noticed that the steam must condense in the iron and cord and then spit out of the iron. I've only used it a few times, but I just push the steam "On demand" (is this cable TV?) button and shake the iron over the base with a paper towel down there. It seems to get the water out for the meantime.

Honestly, it does spew out a lot of water, but it doesn't bother me much with this. But I can see that this would be very annoying if it were something you didn't want to be soaked.

2) It does stink. I was prepared for this to happen. I got a Rowenta garment steamer for my wedding, and I used it once. It smelled like a dying skunk. Basically just heated plastic, and it was sick. This steamer smelled the same, but it seems to have gone away a bit after a few uses.

For the price, I'll deal with the spitting water, but wish that it didn't do it. If you are ironing things that can't afford to be re-wet, I wouldn't go with this. I mean, it's just water - it does dry. Due to the price, I gave it 4 stars, if it were more expensive with these issues, I would have rated it lower.

WRONG PRODUCT COLOR -- 2010-03-03
The photo of the iron's color appears to be PINK. That is the reason I ordered it for a friend who is a cancer survivor; however, she received a white iron instead. The customer service person I spoke to regarding the issue agreed with me and promptly sent out another duplicate iron because she also thought it was pink as well. Obviously, we had to return one of the irons. Luckily my friend likes the Rowenta iron very much even though it is not pink.

The photo needs to be replaced. It became a bit of a hussle for all of us, since it was not represented correctly.

Love It -- 2010-03-02
I finally broke down and decided to buy me a Rowenta Iron after using my sisters and loving it. This iron glides across the fabric and honestly takes no time to get out stubborn wrinkles that would take my black and decker forever. These iron's are well worth the money.

Rowenta Soleplate Cleaner KitRowenta Soleplate Cleaner Kit

iron cleaning made easy -- 2010-01-10
This is an excellent way to give your iron a thorough INTERIOR cleaning as well as cleaning the soleplate. However, my Rowenta iron had some soleplate "stains" which apparently were carbon deposits impregnated onto the steel plate, probably due to burned material. This cleaning kit, and its paste which is meant to be activated by heat, does not have the capability to remove those deposits. For that problem, you'll need to use some type of abrasive cleanser. But, for cleaning a moldy old iron, this paste is perfectly capable of cleaning-out all the normal organic deposits and mold left behind by water in your iron. One related tip: between uses of your iron, be sure to EMPTY the water out of it so that bacteria and mold are less likely to clog your iron. But, for cleaning your iron when it does eventually need it (as they all do), this cleaning kit is very effective (when used as-directed).

Not the easiest way of getting good results. -- 2009-11-06
I received the "kit", two cheap cloths and a very small tube of cream. This is supposed to be a repeat process done on a hot iron and it is a slow process that leaves a lot behind. It may work but you would have to be very patient and still it may leave some burn traces behind.
The simple alternative, get a small tube or bottle of FLITZ METAL POLISH and your iron's stainless steel sole will be clean in under 2 minutes. A German invention Flitz has been around for years and is inexpensive and available from your local hardware store or from old reliable Amazon.com.

Rowenta IS9100 Commercial Garment SteamerRowenta IS9100 Commercial Garment Steamer

EXCELLENT STEAMER, HIGHLY RECOMMEND -- 2010-03-08
I have used a steamer (different brand) for the last 4 years minus all the nice amenities that the Rowenta IS9100 model has. Last month it started leaking which could not be repaired so I was on the hunt for a new steamer.
I was going to buy the same steamer and then I saw this Rowenta Model IS9100 Commercial one and with all the amenities and I decided to buy this and give it a try. After researching "everything" that was out there on clothes steamers, the Rowenta rose to the top of my list for several reasons. The larger water resorvoir which is fabulous! I can steam many more items now without having to stop and refill it...VERY nice feature.

The adjustable handle is also quite nice, allowing me to push it down and slide it out of the way in my laundry room. The efficient and FAST operation of this unit is also very very good. Seems like you don't even wait a minute or so and you have HOT steam and ready to rock and roll! (As much as you can rock and roll while steaming clothes ;-) Less expensive steamers take 3 to 4 times longer to heat up, so this is a great feature. Also very hot steam...be careful ladies, this is a wonderful feature for getting out those really stubborn wrinkles, but it really smarts if you accidentally get a thumb in the way ;-)
The automatic cord rewind is another great feature. Before with my old steamer I had to wind my cord around and around and around my stand, which usually fell down anyway.

The garment rack on top is also great...just throw your shirt, sweater over the shoulder forms and steam away....then slide your hanger on and hang up...viola...done...kaput....give me the next item to steam. It rolls great and overall this is one top notch steamer.
So, if you are in the market and looking for a solid steamer...you won't find one better than this! I love mine! (If you couldn't tell ;-) You really will not find one better. Remember that old saying "You get what you pay for"...well this is worth every cent!

Wrinkle Killer -- 2009-11-15
I recently returned the Rowenta Pro Compact steamer in exchange for this "commercial" steamer.

It certainly is a big improvement. The extra 150 watts of steaming power makes a noticeable difference.

There are several features that make this a wonderful unit. The large 1 gallon water tank is clear and easy to remove and refill. The on/off switch and the automatic cord reel are both foot actuated. There are two onboard accessories bins that keep the attachments from disappearing. The steam is powerful, plentiful and literally rolling out in 60 seconds. Also, the unit is quite sturdy.

Unfortunately, there are a few design flaws and disappointing problems. The two large wheels do not roll on my hardwood floors nor on my carpet. Instead as you drag the machine it leaves a nice trail of marks on the floor. The telescoping handles are not secured into the base of the machine and pull out when you attempt to lift the machine. Also, this unit did not come with a handy plastic brush attachment that the cheaper unit did.

Having said all this, the Rowenta Precision Valet Steamer does a wonderful job of removing stubborn wrinkle quickly and easily.

Rowenta is very good -- 2010-02-22
I am very pleased with my Rowenta DW8080 Pro Master Iron so far. I owned a Rowenta before this one and that's why I bought another Rowenta iron to replace the old one. Very good product.

Good performance so far -- 2010-02-05
I work in the garment industry and have been using Rowenta irons (both at work and at home) for over 15 years. The best advice I can give anyone is that if you are going to spend the money for the Rowenta brand name, then make sure that the model you are buying says "MADE IN GERMANY". At one time all Rowenta irons were made in Germany, however several years ago as a cost cutting move, the company farmed out many of its lower price models to China. The difference in quality between the models made in Germany and China is quite dramatic. Every Rowenta German model I have owned or worked with has been mostly reliable, and each provided steady long term use. On the other hand, the lower priced models made in China are known to leak (both clear and brown water), drip, have uneven steam, and only last for a short time. I offer this not only as my own opinion; this is the general consensus among my industry colleagues as well.

My previous Rowenta home model just died after 10 years of service. After much research and comparison, I decided on this Rowenta Pro Maser DW-8080 model as a replacement. I have been using it for three weeks and so far am very happy with the purchase.

PROS: Great steam power (lots of it!)....even on the medium steam setting it produces enough for getting out wrinkles on linen and cotton. The iron gets out wrinkles in one pass, where my old iron may have taken two or three passes. The pointed nose makes it easy to get into corners. The iron uses regular tap water (unfiltered, straight out of the tap) and comes with a plastic pouring cup which is handy for filling. I have not experienced any dripping or leaking of any kind. The self-clean feature really works, it lets out a BLAST of steam and water that will flush out any particles.

CONS: Iron is a bit on the heavy side...it is substantial in your hand. The hand grip seems a bit short in length, and is positioned more towards the back of the unit, which makes the iron feel a bit front-long as you steer it around. The hinged lid covering the water fill hole has to be snapped shut; it requires a pretty good push to get it to snap (though that could be because the unit is new).

Despite the few flaws, I think that the Rowenta Pro Master is a great iron for home use.
I will update this review if anything changes :-)
