SteamFast SF-407 1500-Watt Fabric SteamerSteamFast SF-407 1500-Watt Fabric Steamer

Dangerous -- 2010-08-30
I bought this product thinking I would be better off steam cleaning my clothes to pro long their life. And it worked. One thing I noticed with the steamfast is a peculiar smell when I first used it. I thought "hey, maybe this will go away after the first use" Nope. I steam cleaned 5 shirts the third time I used it and the burning plastic smell was so bad that my wife who had just entered the room had to leave immediately. I was light-headed, dazed and a little nauseous. 1.5 hrs later, I am typing this review, still feeling a little weird. DO NOT BUY THIS. You get what you pay for.

Great Steamer at a great price -- 2010-08-27
Our old steamer had broken and we were looking for something fairly inexpensive and useful. We found this one and it is excellent. It is so easy to use, things come out wrinkle free if you steam them soon after they have come out of the laundry.

Don't waste your time with anything else! -- 2010-08-20
Don't waste your time with anything else!

I have had Sunbeam with hand pump, Rowenta with power pump and Conair. The sumbeam was ok the rest were a joke. This one is all you need. I travel weekly and do my suits when I get to the hotel. No matter how bad they get in the suitcase this will bring them back from the dead. No Moving Parts, Holds plenty of regular tap water, Fast, Hot and Plenty of steam.
As always, Amazon it the best.

good, but not great -- 2010-08-20
This little steamer is good for what it is ... but it really doesn't let out as much steam as it should which means i have to move over the clothes very very slowly to steam them. Also, i wanted to steam my mattress but this steamer can't handle being used sideways (water leaks out of the top). it's not terrible, but i probably would not have bought it again if i could go back in time.

Love it!!!! -- 2010-08-28
I usually don't take time to write reviews, but I have had my Jiffy steamer for nearly 2 years and I just want to say I think it is fantastic! I always feel a little more put together and wrinkle-free in steamed clothes. If you hang lots of items to dry like I do it is definately worth the money. After my clothes have air or line dried I run the steamer over them and they have the appearance of just bought store clothing.

I also have used my steamer for spring cleaning...just hold the noozle about an inch away from the surface or cleaning and wipe up with a microfiber cloth. Love it!

Overall pleased with this -- 2010-08-20
This is a high quality steamer. You can tell it is well made - the materials are sturdy, although the unit itself is fairly compact and takes up much less room in our laundry room than an ironing board. The question I had when I bought this was whether this will replace an iron completely. My best estimate after having this for a week, is that for 95% of my ironing needs, it will. For sharp pressing needs, like a man's shirt collar, I think we'll drag out the iron. When I first tried the steamer, I was a little nervous because it seemed like hardly any steam came out. It is not a heavy steam flow, but a light, but hot flow of steam - watch your fingers, I've burned mine twice. It is a little hard to maneuver the clothes as you steam them - I think the board that you can hang up would be very helpful, so we may get that later. I steam by hanging a garment on a separate clothes rod and hold the bottom of the garment while I steam the entire item, but when you get to the bottom, you have to move your hand to reach the bottom edge of the garment (again, watch your fingers). The water reservoir holds a lot of water, which is very nice. I also liked the fact that the papers that came with the unit say that they test each unit before it ships to you. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I plan to get many years of use out of it and I think it will save a little time vs. an iron and I don't worry about damaging my clothes with a faulty iron anymore. An added bonus is that I will not worry about burning the house down with this like I did with the iron (steam vs. a hot piece of metal).

Steams Fast! -- 2010-08-30
I was a little skeptical after my last steamer, but this steamer heats up and starts steaming in less than 30 seconds and works great. It's a little big but has a nice handle so you don't burn yourself. I would definitely recommend.

Just fine but not great -- 2010-08-10
If you wanna have a quick iron, this is fine but for loads of clothes, it can be arm-breaking!! Plus you will need to have all the time and patience to finish steaming all of them, refilling the steamer every time it is required..

Quit working -- 2010-07-16
It's a great price but having had it for more than a year it no longer really seems to produce enough steam to do anything for my clothes. Will be looking into a better steamer.

Great Product -- 2010-06-17
I had the smaller steamer for over 5 years. I really like this one better because of the larger steam capacity. I would never go back to an iron. Steaming clothes is the only way to go and the Conair does a great job on every item.

What a shame! This would be the perfect steamer - if it produced steam... -- 2010-08-12
I don't usually take time to write product reviews, but I'm so disappointed by this one I wanted to help save other buyers from a mistake. This would be the absolute best garment steamer on the market - IF ONLY it could fulfill its primary function: to produce steam!!! It seems they thought of everything - great accessories, built-in hanger, adjustable height, portability, easy-to-fill, removable, large-capacity water tank, variable steam settings, super-easy assembly, etc, etc... The only problem is, the steam output is pathetic. Even on highest steam setting, there is little to no visible steam coming out. I tried it anyway on a couple of garments (a dress and a shirt), and it left them WET and still wrinkled. I even called Rowenta customer service, and they suggested using bottled spring water instead of tap water. So I went out and bought a gallon of spring water, tried it, and no difference. Even if there had been, it wouldn't be the most convenient thing to own a steamer that you had to go out and buy special water for... I'm returning it and will have to look for a different steamer that has the most important feature: steam.

Great steamer... don't expect to replace your iron -- 2010-07-24
Great steamer, though does take up quite a lot of space. But it warms up quickly and billows tons of wrinkle-reducing steam. Great for suits and all woolens, not as good for dress shirts. But its worth its weight in gold for any working guy who regularly wears suits, as the combination of this and a lint roller reduces the need to give your suits to dry cleaners to maybe twice a year.

Disappointed -- 2010-07-31
My Jiffy J-4000 arrived today and I immediately began testing the steamer.
My first problem is with the height of the pole, too short for my bad back.
The next thing to happen is the hose touched my leg leaving a red hot area.
The handle also gets very hot and after steaming five t-shirts, it was too hot to continue. It is definitely a big sturdy steamer. It is difficult to lift and empty the water tank. I will be sending it back and ordering a smaller model with insulation on the hose. You would not want to use this steamer around a small child.

good for short folks -- 2010-07-21
The hanger pole and hose are way too short. you have to bend over the entire time you are steaming clothes. steaming anything recommended by the book over 4foot is impossible! we are sending it back! and it was $100. cheaper a week after ordering through amazon!

Steaming Pile of Non-working Machinery -- 2010-08-15
I am currently a 21 year old male, I bought this 2 years ago so I was 19 at the time. I have always hated ironing, hate isn't a strong enough word but it will have to do, so not surprisingly I have been a lifelong wearer of wrinkled clothes. For important occasions I took my clothes to my mother and she hates ironing too so she handed them to my father who took care of it. So I bought this thing after finding out such devices exist that can offer an alternative to the despicable chore that is ironing. I found out about such streamers from an infomercial about a similar but more expensive product.

Put simply: IT DOESN'T WORK. You have to hang your clothe using the hook that comes with this product from the edge of a door and using a hanger. You fill this thing with water, wait till it starts steaming, hold the shirt or pant straight and tight and move the hose nozzle over it. But you will see no results, it simply doesn't work. If anything it just leaves the clothes wet (and wrinkled of course). After it didn't work the first few times I tried it I just gave it to my mother who gave it back to me after similar failed attempts, now it sits in the back of a closet somewhere in the house.

It may be cheap but that just means you are throwing away less money - still wasteful.

Handheld SteamerHandheld Steamer

Steam starts, then STOPS! -- 2010-08-23
Brand new, out of the box, this handheld steamer did not work properly. Took forever to boil, then steam - and once it did, it stopped after about 10 seconds. It kept doing that, steaming, then stopping. The instruction booklet says that the cause for this could be mineral build-up. However, (1) I used (recommended) distilled water and (2) how can there be mineral build-up on a NEW product? (Unless someone returned this one and it was re-sold?) I do NOT recommend this steamer!

Quick and easy to use -- 2010-06-24
I really like this steamer. The on/off switch is convenient. It holds enough water to steam several garments and heats up quickly. It does spit some water, but it dries in a few minutes. I had always used an iron prior to buying this steamer, and I don't think my iron will ever be used again! I bought my steamer through Amazon a few months ago, and just ordered another one for my daughter.

limited in several ways -- 2010-07-29
For as small and inexpensive as this steam is, it actually works pretty well if you take your time and pull the cloth taut as you steam. The water reserve is tiny, though, and I could get though only 1 or 2 items before having to refill. Also, it only worked well on light clothes (like t-shirts). Heavier cottons, wools, and denims were still pretty wrinkled. I've used commercial steamers (having worked in retail clothing), and those steamers work on pretty much everything...but considering the price and size, I'd say this little portable worked pretty well. Just don't have lofty expectations...use this for touch ups, and hang on to your iron for the really wrinkly stuff. However, I will probably end up investing in a pricier model with a hook and huge water tank because I hate ironing.

Steamed -- 2010-05-25
Not overly happy with this item. Doesn't really hold enough water to even start what you need to steam. It just doesn't do the job I needed it to do.
