Swiffer SweeperVac Starter KitSwiffer SweeperVac Starter Kit

Not as advertised. -- 2010-09-03
I couldn't wait to try this product out. We have 4 cats and one dog ...with the main floor being hardwood and tile. At first, I was thinking "wow, much better than sweeping" until I used it a few times.
I've been using it for a week now and the only thing it is good for is picking up fur and dust. It won't even pick up one tiny pebble of cat litter. I seriously don't know how they picked up so much on the tv ads (cheerios and larger pieces of dirt). My hand vac is stronger than this.
I don't like the handle either. It feels very awkward.
The product needs alot of improving.
I'm disapointed in Swiffer and will be returning it for a full refund this weekend.

PROS:
Lightweight.
Can hang it up on a hook.
Easy to use.

CONS:
Low suction (not as advertised).
Awkward handle.
No reuseable/washable swiffer cloth.
Product price (not worth it for pet owners).
Price of changeable clothes.

All in all, I don't recommend this product for pet owners (specifically, pets that carry stuff through your house from their paws). I'd rather spend twice the money on something that actually does what it is suppose to do.

I hope this was helpful :)

Excellent sweeper -- 2010-09-03
Excellent sweeper ... The battery life is not as long as I would like
for it to be ... Important - (Company stands behind the sweeper's warranty) ...

Black & Decker CHV9608 9.6 Volt Cyclonic-Action Cordless DustBuster with AccuREACHBlack & Decker CHV9608 9.6 Volt Cyclonic-Action Cordless DustBuster with AccuREACH

Good Value -- 2010-08-28
We previously owned a black & decker dustbuster before this one. They work great for about 3 years if you use them a lot like we do. The battery usually starts charging less and less over time. They are not ment to last long term and you cant just buy a new battery. For the price it fits the use you get out of it. This one is cool because it has a washable filter. This is great for many reasons. You dont have to buy extra filters which can be expensive unless you find them for a great deal on ebay but also because they stop making the models after a year or two and it can be a challenge to find the replacement filters. This one is also cool with the extendable hose which makes it easy to get under small hard to reach places.

Nice vacuum -- 2010-08-22
Over the years, these cordless vacuums have really improved. The Black and Decker 9.6 Volt Cyclonic-Action Dustbuster is a real winner. It is light and powerful. So good that I have given two of these as gifts.

Will the Dustbuster pick up everything? No, of course not. Reading the reviews of not only this vacuum but many other portables, I found that sometimes negative reviews were based on unrealistic expectations for a small portable vacuum.

For the price, this dustbuster is a nice way of cleaning up light spills. I highly recommend it.

DECENT VAC FOR THE MONEY -- 2010-09-03
Bought this vacuum about 5 months ago and only use it to clean my one room.
Pros:
1. Good suction
2, Revolving brush head gets my dog's hair up.

Cons:
1. Filter is EXTREMELY difficult to clean
2. Cord storage area is not deep enough., Wrapped cord falls off and unwinds a lot.
3. Crevice tool falls out of storage space easily.
4. The hose is too short to reach all the way under bureau, chest of drawers, bed, etc.

Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle, S2220Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle, S2220

Perfect Vacuum -- 2010-08-28
I have had this vacuum for over 7 years. I use it every week to vacuum my bathroom floors, kitchen linoleum and small sections of carpeting. Not once has the unit overheated, lost suction or "just quit working" as so many reviewers have stated.
The drive belt broke after four years of uninterrupted service (and then only because the suction pulled in the corner of an area rug and jammed the mechanism, which caused the belt to snap.)
I ordered a belt online and replaced it myself. Whoever stated that the machine is not user-serviceable is wrong. I've never had any trouble emptying the dust cup, and there are filters on each side that prevent dust from reentering the room.
This is a great machine for picking up pet hair, lint and dust. I'm at the point where I have worn out my original and am replacing it. I am also ordering one for my brother and one for my mother as well. Great vacuum!

Doesnt hold up -- 2010-08-27
I kept this vacuum in the upright postion most of the time. After many uses mainly on kitchen floor only the neck of the base area began to crack. After only 1 yr of use it broke off completely. I am not hard on my vacuums and have had the eureka smart boss for 4 years. I love that vacuum. Im going to try the eureka floor vac next for my kitchen. Do Not buy this item if you dont want to replace it year after year.

Love this vacuum -- 2010-09-03
I have had this vacuum for 6 months now and have had no problems. I previously had an Oreck. This Hoover out performs the Oreck for suction/pickup and is much quieter. I like it having 2 speeds and being self adjusting for height. The helping handle on it is handy too. I would definately recommend it. I'm very happy with it.

Can't Recommend This Vacuum! -- 2010-09-02
I bought this vacuum based on the positive reviews posted. I received the vacuum, used it once and the bag filled up after I vacuumed the new carpet in a room. So, I changed the bag and nothing was being sucked into the new bag. So, I made sure I installed the bag correctly (it was) and cleaned out the bottom thinking something was clogging it. I even used a portable vacuum to make sure nothing was blocking the long tube leading to the bag. The only thing this vacuum did was spit stuff out that I just tried to vacuum up. A total waste of money. After reading the negative reviews of similar problems by other purchasers, I took it to a Hoover authorized dealer who confirmed my experience (he had 6 that were being repaired or traded in).

Eureka Boss Smart Vac Upright HEPA Vacuum Cleaner -- 2010-08-29
I do not recommend buying this vacuum. I had it only a couple months when the hose tore between the metal wire loops of the hose. Eureka did replace it but the second hose did the same thing. Then the electrical cord tore right where it comes out of the vacuum from rubbing on the plastic frame. The dog hair attachment tool did not hold up long either. It does have good suction but with all the repairing that I have had to do with it, I have found it to be more bother than it is worth. I think I am going to go back to Kenmore. I have never had good luck with Eureka products but had excellent luck with the Kenmore brand. I am sorry I wasted the money on another Eureka product!

Powerful suction, terrible build quality -- 2010-08-28
The vacuum itself when new is excellent. It does a great job of cleaning, has plenty of suction and agitates and grooms carpet really well. The allergen reduction system (filter bags, motor filter and "HEPA" filtration on the exhaust) are pretty good at reducing airborne particles. That being said, the quality of most of the materials is pretty poor and some of the engineering choices are really questionable. The vacuum has a spring-loaded dingus that removes the roller load from the motor when it's locked in the upright position or when you manually toggle the bare floor setting. Initially, this works alright (if not a bit kludgey...)

However, after 12 months or so of use, mine stopped disengaging the roller and would burn through the thin plastic belt if you didn't immediately toggle the bare floor switch. I was sort of reluctant to live with this, but since it was really the only issue with the machine at this point, it wasn't too terrible. Just lock it upright, flip the switch. Tilt the handle back, untoggle the switch. This allowed me to keep the machine from eating belts and saved me from having to hear the roller spinning and rattling in the upright position. We continued to use the vacuum in this condition for a while, but since it was out of warranty, the price to fix the broken belt mechanism was going to be about the same as a new machine.

It ended up lasting another 6 months or so until this week when it decided to start burning through belts even when the mechanism was set to bare floor, the exhaust filter retention bracket (cheap plastic) became brittle and broke when we changed the filter and the bag retention mechanism (again, cheap plastic) became brittle and broke when we replaced the bag, and the left bearing cap melted (I'd wager due to the heat caused by the weird belt condition) Now, this wasn't the result of mistreating or beating on it or anything. These parts merely wore out over the course of 18 months, which I suppose isn't terrible when some of the reviewers have indicated a machine life of less than 12 months.

I wouldn't really recommend this unit to anyone unless you enjoy replacing vacuum cleaners every 12 months. Ours has since been replaced by a Hoover Platinum upright that feels much more solid, has a better warranty and comparable suction and allergen reduction, which we're extremely happy with.

Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind Upright Vacuum, Bagless, UH70120

Excellent Vacuum With Problems -- 2010-09-02
First of all, my Windtunnel T-series is the most effective vacuum I've ever had. I love this thing in many ways--it's fairly light and easy to move around. It suctions great. However, the belt keeps coming off, requiring me to repeatedly take the time to fix it. Now, I have no suction in the wand. I've only used this vacuum 6 times. I would have hoped that Hoover would have designed a more durable machine. Oh, well.

Lasted 3 months before we had problems -- 2010-08-31
The belt that turns the brush wheel snaps off. It is a pain in the rear to put it back on. The customer service is very rude, and i'd rather not call them again.

I went beyond the 90day return policy of target. I wish i could return this stupid thing. My old bissel (10 years of service) atleast worked a little.

I hate companies with bad customer service. This one tops it with poor belt design.

The vaccuming portion is good, when it works.

Hoover LINX Cordless Stick VacuumHoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum

Handy little helper -- 2010-08-30
I bought this vacuum after reading many reviews. I knew to expect a 15-20 minute battery life. I wanted something to clean our hard floors and to touch up the carpet. I LOVE IT!! It is so convenient. I have never owned a cordless vacuum, so I have nothing to compare it to, except a broom and dustpan. It is so much more convenient than a broom, or a little vacuum with a cord. I have a baby and 2 dogs... constant messes. I whip this thing out and have the mess cleaned up in 2 minutes. The vacuum gets dog hair, crumbs, and dust. My corded all-use vacuum is needing to be replaced. I used it then followed up with this vacuum on carpet in the bedroom. This vacuum picked up so much dog hair and dust that my big vacuum left behind. So this vacuum does have some power, I'm just assuming that for carpet, I will require a heavy-duty, corded vacuum to remove all the dog hair and dander. That being said, Hoover has made a WONDERFUL product for everyday cleaning!! Highly recommend!!

Just Buy It! -- 2010-08-28
I have never given a product review, but I'm feeling guilty about not at least getting a few thoughts out about how I feel about this vac. I like others have owned about every cordless vac on the market. There is absolutely NO COMPARISON with what the others will pick up and what this little Hoover will do. It works BETTER than any cordless vac I have every used and better than any corded vac I have used (I have even had the a spendy Dyson model). I have a built in vac system in my home. I stopped using it in favor of the Hoover cordless vac because of the ease of use and the fact that it picks up every hair/dust particle on my floors....tile and carpeted areas. I also own apartment rentals that I have purchased these vacuums for. I think at last count I have purchased nine, yes 9 of them! I have lost track of how friends and family have purchased them because of my testimonial to them. OK...this is it for my very first product review! JUST BUY ONE (or several...LOL) YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!

Dyson DC14 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum CleanerDyson DC14 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson's SUCKtion - lousy customer support -- 2010-09-03
I just got off the phone Dyson's customer service dept.--for the second time. I purchased my DC14 from Home Depot in 2008 (2 years ago). It came with a tag on it stating there was a 5 year Warranty. Recently one of the belts broke (of course the one inside that I can't get to). I called because I don't have the receipt and the first time I called them, they told me a Serial Number would suffice if I lost the receipt. The second time I called, I was told that the vacuum was made in 2006 according to the serial # and was no longer under warranty since in 2006 they only came with 2 Year Warranties (even though the tag on it said "5 Year Warranty"). Basically I was told I was S-O-L and I would have to order parts and pay to have it fixed. Dyson needs to have better support if it's going to charge such outrageous prices for its products. I will NEVER by another Dyson product.

I no longer vacuum, I Dyson! -- 2010-08-29
I am an engineer and love the way all the little parts fit together and pull apart. The assembly instructions were very good and I was Dysoning in just under 10 minutes. I have one dog in a one bedroom apt and after I vacuumed with my old vacuum I came back with the Dyson and had to empty the collection area twice (very easily done btw). The unit was also several dB quieter then my previous vacuum. You can actually carry on a conversation with another person why running the Dyson. The unit is constructed of a lot of plastic but everything seems sturdy enough to make it for at least 5 years or longer. The one thing that I didn't like about the plastic body is that it does develop quite a bit of static electricity (all those dust particles whizzing by) so you need to take off the attachment (easily done as well) and vacuum the head of the vacuum after you are done. Also the transition from carpeted floors and hard surfaces was very easy. Great product and I would buy again... well in 5 years if I had to.
