560 Roomba is flat-out amazing -- 2010-09-06
I originally bought the Roomba 560 for my mother who's getting older and having a hard time vacuuming. Long story short, it does a really great job of sucking up dirt and dust on all floor types, and does a good job transitioning from hardwood to carpet, or hardwood to rugs (even with fringe). And it can also handle very large rooms (>500sqft). HOWEVER, it will NOT cross onto a rug that has a black boarder. My mother's kitchen has 3 rugs, all with black boarders and black squares throughout, and for whatever reason the Roomba interprets black as a dip in the floor surface (akin to it not falling down stairs). It would vacuum all around the rugs, and climb onto rugs in the dining room that are cream-colored, and hall rugs that are dark red with patterns, but it won't cross a black line. So since it didn't serve my parent's needs, I brought it back to my apartment and it works like a charm, covering about 1100sqft in 45 minutes. I have it set to 3pm and every day it auto starts at 3pm sharp and cleans everything and returns to the base to recharge. It's fascinating to watch! It's fuzzy logic is incredible!

Some of the other reviews said it takes a while to clean out the dirt tray & filter, but it takes us less than 1 minute to slide out the tray, dump that, and then slide open the hinged filter and dump the second area. I suppose you could wash out the filter every time, but it really doesn't need that. We also don't empty the dirt tray every day (as some other reviews said was necessary), but we don't have kids or pets so we're not generating too much that needs to be vacuumed on a daily basis.

Bottom line; if you don't have rugs with black edges, I most certainly would suggest buying this thing -- it takes care of business. And it's really nice to have one less thing to do.

Nice vacuum! -- 2010-09-06
I have to admit, I had my doubts after reading some of the reviews but after having my iRobot 560 for about 3 weeks now, my floors are spotless and I'm a very happy customer. I have it scheduled to clean daily when I'm not home and clean out the bin every few days (which only takes just a few seconds - they made it very simple). Just hoping it lasts over a year since the warranty ends at that time.

iRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop RobotiRobot 110 Dirt Dog Workshop Robot

DIRT DOG (CAT) -- 2010-09-07
I purchased the Dirt Dog because I have a cat that sheds like crazy. Between her hair and mine, I opted for the "heavy duty" robot. It's been the best $160 i've ever spent. It really works =D ...if it could dust and mop all at the sametime, i'd marry it !!!!! I higly recommend the irobot, this one works for me. I'm sure either one of the models will work for you as well !!!!! =)

Great product -- 2010-08-31
I got this soley for cleaning up my dogs' hair, and so I don't have to sweep the floors anymore. I was having to sweep every other day. Now I don't sweep ever, thanks to Stan (I named it). He does a really great job at cleaning up all the dog hair, dust, and dirt, and gets everything off the floor. He's a bit loud, but for the super clean floor he leaves behind that is something I overlook. I've been using him for several weeks now on the hardwood floors. I'm able to do my bedroom, long hallway, and living/dining room space all in one clean without recharging him. He does require a recharging after all that for several hours. Overall I am extremely happy and pleased with this purchase - life is so much easier for cleaning!!

Tenergy Replacement Battery for iRobot® R3 500 series 14.4V APS BatteryTenergy Replacement Battery for iRobot® R3 500 series 14.4V APS Battery

Great Battery -- 2010-08-16
This battery realy runs a long time. I think that's about the best thing you can say about a battery. When this one dies. I will but this battery again.

Decent 3rd-party Roomba battery replacement -- 2010-08-08
I'm fairly satisfied with this battery replacement, after my Roomba's existing battery gave up, even with a power system reset. The packaging was non-descript - brown paper box with a sticker noting the NIMH 14.4V 3500MAH battery. The instruction sheet had an... interesting... translation on it, but the steps to replace the Roomba battery are fairly straightforward. Give it a shot. Cheaper than iRobot's official battery, at least.

iRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, WhiteiRobot 530 Roomba Vacuuming Robot, White

A high maintenance unit -- 2010-08-24
I've used roomba for about 5 years (Discovery series), it cleans fine as advertised. It's pretty cool, but it needs a constant maintenance which defeat the purpose of time saving. My roomba's 6th battery just died and I'm going back to the good old low maintenance long lasting plug in vacuum cleaner.

Pro
- it really works as it advertises

Con
- it needs to be clean after each use
- dust build up blocks the sensors, which cause it runs in circles (like dog chases its tail)
- Roomba needs to be plug-in to the charger at 24/7 when it's not being used or it could cause problems with roomba. It's not only a waste of electricity, but it also shortens battery's life. That translates into more costs in a long run. My 6 roomba batteries costed about $200+, not to mention 24/7 x 5 years of plug in charger electricity bill. Here's a quick math

$350 - Roomba
$250 - 6 batteries & filters
$200 - 5 yrs 24/7 plug in electricity(a pure guess)
#@&# - Time spent on maintenance
$800 - Total

I'm definitely going back to the good old vacuum cleaner. Goodbye Roomba.

better than 560 -- 2010-08-24
I have both model 560 and 530. I like roomba a lot as I hate doing vacuuming. Both models works really well that they pick up lots of dust from carpet (not so well on hard wood floor though as they just push the little stuff around). I prefer the 530 model better because it's easier to clean the brushes. There is this groove on the ends of the brush of the 560 model that keep accummulate my long hair and it's very hard to clear that even with scissors. And I find myself don't really do the regular schedule cleaning that 560 model has. Anyways, I love my roombas and highly recommend it!!!!

Short term life -- 2010-09-02
iRobot Roomba Pet Series 532 Vacuum Cleaning Robot

I loved this machine at first. I bought the pet series as I have two cats and loved the idea of a vacuum running every day by itself. It worked well - it did require frequent cleaning of the brushes but still loved it. After about 9 months the battery started to have a shorter and shorter run time. I purchased a new battery and was back in business. Then about a month after the year warranty ran out, the brushes stopped turning. After cleaning them thoroughly (inside and out) - it worked again - for about a week. I did another cleaning and it didn't last for a room. After researching them online, I found that the motor on this model burns out often or the plastic gears wear and it stops turning. I did everything I could to clean and help it work short of taking it in for service - which ranged from $75 to $100 just to check it out. It was over $300 to buy. I finally decided to give it to a charity that either fixes and sells or sells electronics for parts.

Many reviews speak of it failing just after the warranty runs out. That was my experience as well. Their support offered a new model - but no satisfaction for this one.

For less than $50 more, I bought a Dyson Animal. It may not run itself, but my carpets are cleaner, it doesn't stop, and I don't have to repeatedly remove fur from the brushes to get my small apartment clean.

VERY disappointed.

Amazing and pet friendly! -- 2010-09-01
This is just an initial review of this exciting investment. Yes...an investment; in time, comfort,
expedience and satisfaction. I just received my iRobot Roomba 532 yesterday, July 31, 2010. Althought it
is premature to write a review of its reliability--in the long term--I can atest to my purchase
satisfaction. There is no initial buyer's remorse...yet! Ha-ha.
I have three Shih Tzu dogs. One is a senior and the other two are just pups--13 moonths and 9-weeks
old. I put the iRobot on charge as soon as I unpacked it. The packaging was excellent!
Today I put it--the Roomba--to the test. I must admit, it is quite amazing! The test area: Family
Room. That's where dirt gets heavy--porcelain tiles, a round center rug, puppy crate, and virtually
everyone's play ground.
If you have had, or have, puppies--you know how scared, or excited at all the noises and people in
their surroundings. Well, my 9-week-old puppy was never intimitated or surprised by the iRobot. That was
great! This is iRobot is so quiet! And it runs smoothly! This iRobot is so quiet and it's efficient! What
a pleasant and satisfying experience!
The iRobot performed to standard, as advertised, and lived up to all the hype to boot! My family room
is 18-ft by 16-ft. Using the Virtual Walls that come with the system was fantastic. They worked just
great. The Roomba went back to Home Base--smoothly. It's charging now, took approximately 1-hr to
complete, and ready for its next room--the kitchen--I will say...the iRobot Roomba is everything it's made
out to be.
For a disabled person this would be a great investment. But, research the other models, because they
could have the features you really need. I could have purchased another model with added features, like
iRobot Roomba Pet Series 532 Vacuum Cleaning Robotremote control. The next purchase is the Scooba! Use it to mop the floors, and the Dirt Dog next.

iRobot 330 Scooba Floor-Washing RobotiRobot 330 Scooba Floor-Washing Robot

Another great little helper! -- 2010-08-27
I wasn't sure about this product after reading some of the reviews, but I took a chance on it because I love my Roombas so much. It is a great little helper. Our house has about 2000 sq feet of white tile and it gets really dirty living out in the country with five kids, five cats and a dog. However, if I run the Scooba every day or so, the floor stay very clean. It dries a lot faster than I thought it would. Once the Scooba gives its little victory song indicating it has covered the whole room, the floor is dry. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs help keeping the floors clean. One other thing, the new formula of the cleaner is enzyme based and safe for pets and kids.

Very Poor Customer Support -- 2010-08-07
have 7 robots in all, and they do a pretty good job. As we all know, they are not cheap. They are all less then a year old. Recently, one began thumping while running. I went to the iRobot website which offered suggestions on how to diagnose this issue. One suggestion was to remove the brushes and run the robot, if the thumping continues, clink the link for customer support. I filled out the page which generates an automatic email. I provided the model, model number, and serial number. I explained that I did everything suggested, and that even with the brushes out, the thumping occured. A day later I receive an email suggesting I do everything the site told me to do, even though I stated that I had already done it! I wrote them back and asked if they even read my original email. And that I already did everything in this email. What should I do next. Then... I get another email that asks... what was the model and serial number???

Doesn't give me much confidence in this company. Not sure what I will do with the other 6 start acting up...

Works Great! -- 2010-06-25
This battery may not be made by iRobot with the Scooba "stamp" on the battery, but it works just the same and for much less the cost! That is the kind of value I'm talking about! Shipping was fast and product is great! PERFECT business transaction, where everyone is happy.

fair -- 2010-08-25
I suspect it only lasted about 8 months. It did a great job during the 8 months, but in the last few weeks, Roomba quit holding a charge and shows "charged" after about 10 minutes charging on the base or plugged directly in to the wall. Roombas are horribly complicated, so I cant really be for sure that this battery is the problem until I find or buy a new one to test with. Also, the battery pack doesnt fit in snugly like it should. I alway push it back into place, but it looks like it falls down a little when the roomba is vacumming the tiles. So, maybe there isnt a good connection for the device to charge correctly?

All in all, Ill probably buy the name brand one this time just to be sure. Plus, that one lasted me about 3 years.

Great replacement -- 2010-08-09
This replaced the battery that was worn out. It seems to last longer than the previous battery and it cost much less than the one on the iRobot site.

Great alternative to $$$ original battery -- 2010-08-22
After reading so many good reviews I purchased this PWR+ battery for my Roomba 510. I am totally satisfied with the new battery. It is not the original battery but it works exactly like the iRobot one. I installed it, recharged it and my Roomba it's back at work. I think $90 for the original battery it is way too much: as long as iRobot keeps the cost of its batteries so high I will keep looking for alternatives. I definitely recommend this product.

Does the job -- 2010-07-08
Not much to say. It's a battery. It works. My Roomba is running again. Hope this has a longer life than the original. Delivered promptly and it works, not much else to say.

iRobot Roomba 53501 -- 2010-09-01
I've had my Roomba for a few weeks now and overall am happy with this purchase. I think it's more of a robotic sweeper than a vacuum cleaner. It can't do the thorough cleaning as a good vacuum cleaner would do, but it's great for regular and (best part!) hands-free cleanup. I just turn it on and off it goes, gently humming and scooting around, as I do something else.

Two things about the product description though: this model - 53501 - DOES NOT have on-board scheduling, or any scheduling at all. According to the manual it's only for models 550 and higher. Also, contrary to description, it does not come with batteries for the Virtual Wall. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Robo vacuum -- 2010-07-04
Absolutely love this purchase. I have hard wood and tile floors and a doggy door so was constantly sweeping the floor, now I just turn on the Roomba and it is done. The best timesaver ever and works great. Highly recommend as a must have for wood floors.
