 | Rowenta DX-9800 Perfect Steam Iron
Found in the trash -- 2010-05-11 Was helping a neighbor work on their house when I found this new iron in their trash. They said it worked perfect for a month so they threw away the box and receipt. One month later it died and went in the trash. I took it home and disassembled it and found all connections were good and it lit up but would not heat. The brains of the unit are in the handle and are encapsulated, so even if I knew enough to test all resistors and diodes and such... I can't get to them. Considering what she paid for this model you can imagine how disappointed she was with this purchase. I have noticed other models that have a much higher rating on here and will suggest she always check Amazon customer reviews before buying anything again. I would not suggest this model considering her experience with it.
Don't buy Rowenta -- 2010-02-11 The cord on my very expensive Rowenta gave out in less than a year and I only iron once a week. When I pick up the iron, the power goes off and I have to jiggle the cord to get it back on. If you do buy a Rowenta, be sure to keep the sales receipt. You'll need it. To get my iron serviced, I have to pack it up, with a photocopy of the receipt, and mail it to someplace in Long Island at my expense and wait two to four weeks for a response. Also, be aware, there is a site on-line where folks have reported Rowentas sparking and even bursting into flames at the place where the cord is attached. Clearly, Rowenta has a design problem and I am probably lucky that my iron hasn't sparked or set itself on fire yet. P.S.: The lady who answered the phone at the consumer service desk was totally indifferent.

 | Conair GS19 Deluxe Handheld Fabric Steamer
Don't get it... -- 2010-07-01 I can't stand ironing. I had another steamer, but it died. I got this one, but I am majorly disappointed. It did not really get out the wrinkles and just soaked my clothes. I am going to return it. Iron/Steamer sounded like it would be great but it is only a great idea.
Steamer review -- 2009-07-14 Although it's lightweight and puts out steam, it only has a few holes for steam and took a long time to have any impact on wrinkles. Also, you can buy this at Walmart for $29.99.

 | Proctor Silex 17410 Easy Press Lightweight Iron
Perfect cheap clothes iron. -- 2009-08-17 The iron does what I need it to. And I couldn't get anything like it at a lower price unless it was a gift. I'm quite satisfied with my purchase.
Nice iron for the price -- 2009-06-14 This iron is nice for the price. It does squirt water a little strangely and the buttons are a little difficult to move. I end up just unplugging it rather than fooling with the dial to turn it off. However, I still think it was worth the cost. It does the job.

 | Jerdon First Class J913W Iron with Dual Auto Off and Retractable Cord
Iron on -- 2009-10-09 This was a gift but I'm told it worked well and she is happy with it.
Not bad for an inexpensive iron -- 2009-03-01 Does everything I'd expect (steams, retracts cord, turns on quickly) and the price is reasonable. The iron this one replaced was heavier, so it's a bit of an adjustment to a lighter iron with less heft, but for what I paid, I can learn to live with it.

 | B&D Steam Advantage Iron
Irregular heat scortches clothes -- 2010-07-26 This iron frequently scorches clothes and melts synthetics. The only explanation I have for that is that the heat is poorly regulated and the iron is often hotter than it should be. Any savings on the cost of this inexpensive iron is quickly made up in ruined clothing.
Love this Iron -- 2010-01-04 I've owned multiple Rowentas and find this iron far superior to those. I find the burst of steam to be very powerful and removes all the wrinkles very quickly. Perhaps I do not iron much synthetic material as the other reviewers but I have owned it for about a year and love it.

 | Black & Decker B&D Classic Iron NonStick Slplate
Good solid iron -- 2010-08-31 I do a lot of sewing and ironing men's shirts. This iron is great for both. It is a little heavier than the plastic irons, and much more sturdy. It is very simple and easy to use. This is the iron your Momma had in the 50's! It is awesome!
