GREAT CLEANER -- 2010-08-30
I dont run my cleaner as much as I should so my house is still very dusty. But all functions work great. I painted a room and thought I cld put this machine in the room to get rid of the fumes. WRONG! The only thing that happened was the filters took on the smell of the paint and primer. So when I run the purifier in the living room we smell paint. I did replace the charcoal filter, but I suppose I need to replace the rest now. Over all It's a nice machine.
Stron odor of insecticide -- 2010-06-20
I ordered this filter because of the great reviews on every other website. This filter was a nightmare. After detecting a strong odor of insecticide I was instructed to move the filter to an isolated room with the windows wide open and run the air filter for a few days. I ran it for almost five days. The odor did not diminish. When anyone would go into the room, they would become ill. I had read that there was an odor with some machines before I bought it. I spoke to several companies that sold the machine. They blamed the few customers that had the problem by saying they were a little "crazy" and sensitive. The odor coming from this machine could stop a Mac truck. The company that sold the machine was very difficult. They wanted to charge me for the shipping coming and going even though they offered free shipping. I wish I had listened to the reviews of the so called "crazy" and sensitive people. There is obviously some filters that are sent out with a problem. Order this machine if you want to take a chance that you won't be one of the ones to have this problem.

I purchased this machine for my bedroom, and noticed a difference almost immediately. I am sleeping better, and wake up refreshed instead of stuffy. I do have seasonal allergies. I love this machine.
Great purifier for the price -- 2010-07-01
I've had this purifier for about 4 months now. It's been great! I have a cat in my small apartment so I use it to clean the air of cat litter dust and dander... because of the litter dust, I've already had to replace both the pre- and HEPA filter way before their time, but I guess that just means it's working. The pre-filter can can also be vacuumed or shaken out to clear the dust. The noise is minimal, but I'm used to having fans running in my room already... I would definitely recommend the Hunter 30057 as a cheap HEPA purifier.
Also note that it takes a while for the initial plastic smell of the parts to fade, several weeks in my case. If you have a sensitive nose, you may want to look elsewhere.

Arrived quickly. Bought it for my mother that has alot of respiratory problems. It seems a bit loud on high, but on medium, it is just fine and does a great job of cleaning the air. I would recommend this to all that need real clean air.

It does a great job in collecting dust. However, it is hard to tell when and how I should clean the black filter.

The filter I received only has about 80% of the number of pleats as that pictured (ie. less material). The widely spaced pleats were obvious out of the box but the 80% number took a little figuring since my filter is also horizontally pleated instead of vertically as in the picture. I have 13 horizontal pleats. My old filter has as many pleats as the one pictured.
One of the filters I received was also slightly shorter than the other. In order get it to seal properly, I had to cut the top and bottom off of my old filter and stuff them in the filter housing with the new filter. Original Trion 255649-102 filters are listed at a height of 19 3/4" whereas these are listed here as 19 5/8" (and my short one is only 19 1/2").
easy to change -- 2007-12-07
If your system uses this type of filer it is much easier to change than the unit with the combs in it. As a filer goes it is dirty when I change it so I guess it works.

Don't waste your money!! -- 2010-07-17
I bought this product as part of a 3 pack that included the large, compact, and auto purifier. The larger unit died about 6 months after I bought it and now the compact size will not run. I cleaned both of them and that's when the problems started. After cleaning the compact unit it will not turn on without quickly turning on the clean lite and shutting down. The larger unit had a similar reaction to being cleaned. I replaced the larger one with a Rabbit Air HEPA filter and it is much better to maintain and I think it actually does something in the room. All the Ionic pro did was waste my money! Find something else!
Nice product, BUT buy a 3m filtrete air purifier instead! -- 2010-02-19
First of all, this is a nice product, but mine stopped working about 6 months of owning one, very disapointed I like the fact that there is no filter to replace, all you need to do is clean the blades everytime it gets dirty, but I am still not 100% sure if it is really filtering or just collect some of the dust that blows through and get stuck onto the blades, also I do not like the fact that it releases ozone.. O3, instead of O2 which is oxygen. It shouldn't be harmful but its a bit unsettling to know. I give this thing 2 stars because it failed on me after 6 months, i took care of it and cleaned it often, maybe I got a lemon because it seems like no one else had that problem.
I recommend the 3M products instead. Ionic pro is nice and slick, but its so nice that its too good to be true, the 3M air purifier is just straight forward and you know its doing a better job filtering than the Ionic pro. It would be nice if all the air purifiers had did not have filters to replace so we could all save a lot of money in the long run, but the fact is, you pay for the replacement filters so that you get what you pay for, it will do the job of truly purifiying the air instead of the fancy smancy gimmicky blades that you clean from the ionic pro. To me the ionic pro is a trying to be wanabe imitation alien technology that doesnt really work all the way 100%. The 3M products definitely work 100% all the way and I would definitely spend more money on real performance. If a product does not perform to the best of its capacity, to me it is just a waste of money. Also it is your health, there is no price for your health, being healthy is worth spending the extra bucks, buy the 3M products instead!
Ionic pro is cool, and it does work, but not as well as the 3M air purifiers. Maybe in 50 years in the future there will have technology good enough to truly make an air purifier that does not need a filter replacement, until then, you have the ionic pro which is a wanabe imitation "alien technology" that does not truly work to its full potential. Also in the future, the hopefully can make the ionic pro not release ozone (O3), and release oxygen (O2) which is what we humans would rather breathe.

So far no problems. It seems to work as good as the original filter but was much cheaper than Sears wanted for a replacement filter.

The directional arrows aren't printed on the filter to aid installation. But it's really not too hard to determine how to install it. Overall the filter seems to be working fine.

Outrageous Price -- 2010-08-22
I had an air purifier by a company called EnviroResearch several years ago that was almost identical to this model and with the same specs (sans the remote), and it was also electrostatic with permanent, washable filter. It worked amazingly! Within 15 minutes closed in a room with it I could feel my allergy symptoms alleviate. That model cost under $80. How does Oreck justify what THEY'RE charging for the same machine? Don't be sucked in by the money-grubbers.
