 | Frigidaire 25-PINT Dehumidifier
Nice unit but loud -- 2010-08-22 This is a nice unit, especially for the price. Its controls are simple and the unit itself is compact but quite powerful. We had some dampness in our basement due to a water leak and it has really helped to dry the air out. Its water collection tray is a little small, so you may end up emptying it often, though you can get around this by attaching a hose to the outlet. It is loud, so if you are sensitive to noise then this probably isn't the unit for you.
Super little machine -- 2010-07-29 Wonderful little machine. We have two dehumidifiers in the basement, one the Frigidaire 25-pint. It collects twice as much water as our other machine. I can't wait for the other one to break! so I can replace it with a second Frigidaire.

Excellent, if purchased for the right purpose. -- 2010-09-01 I almost didn't buy this unit because of the mixed reviews, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Bottom line, it works spectacularly well if used for an enclosed space where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged. I have it in a guest-cabin behind my house which sits vacant 90% of the time. It extracted about 1 cup of water in 24 hours of summer weather. Over a period of a week or so, I expect it will remove most humidity as long as the cabin stays sealed. There are 2 keys to this unit working effectively: (1) It works slowly, so expecting it to dehumidify your bathroom right after your shower is preposterous. (2) It's not going to work if the air you're trying to dehumidify is being circulated. In other words, if it's a room you're constantly going in and out of, or a room connected to your central A/C unit, forget it. You'll need a big, mechanical dehumidifier. But for spaces where the air isn't being circulated/exchanged, it will eventually extract most of the moisture and keep it dry. A perfect example would be a motor-home. My only (minor) complaints are that optional drain hose is only about 4' long (so I replaced it with a 1/2" x 6' hose from HomeDepot for 3 bucks.) And the power converter gets very hot, so I hooked it to a lamp timer and have it running 2-hours-on then 1-hour-off all day (thus a total of 16 hours a day). Hopefully this will keep it from getting seriously hot. Bottom line--perfect for enclosed spaces but wouldn't recommend for areas where air is being circulated or exchanged.
Does not perform as stated. -- 2010-03-31 I had high hopes for this product. Small as it is I figured it would be sufficient for my 8 X 10 bathroom with the door closed. To give an idea of how "efficient" this unit actually is: I placed it in the downstairs bathroom with the door closed for 24 hours. It was 68 degrees F. and the humidity was 70% when I left it. I came back late the next day and there was maybe a shot-glass full of water in the reservoir. The humidity had dropped only to 65%. I honestly can't imagine a situation where this product could be worth trying. A 2X2 doll house, maybe? Amazon should not be offering a product that doesn't work. It DOES NOT extract the stated amount of water per day; not even close.

 | Sunpentown SD-65E Energy Star 65-Pint Dehumidifier
Sucked that h20 right out! -- 2010-07-26 I purchased this for my mother who lives by the coast. She had been using those little plastic dehumidifiers and she thought there wasnt much moisture in the air because there was only a table spoon in the container. Well after plugging this in after 1 hour, it had pulled about a gallon of water out! We were simply amazed!!

 | William Barr FG90 Absorbing Dehumidifier
Damprid Absorb Container and refills -- 2009-05-04 Living at the beach, this product is absolutely wonderful and don't know what I would do without it. Absolutely no mold or mildew in the rooms/closets since I began using it a few years ago. So easy to use!

 | SPT SD-46T 46-Pint Dehumidifier with TiO2 and UV Light
Extremely Pleased with this Dehumidifier A+ + + -- 2010-07-28 I just bought SPT SD-46T 46-Pint Dehumidifier a few days ago and I am more then pleased! After running 2 days I have already emptied the container 2x after being full. This unit is well built and runs perfect. The water container completely filled over night and helped bring our large bedroom to much drier conditions. It does a wonderful job at pulling water out of the air and returns a nice circulation of fresh air into the room. I am also pleased with the UV light as I notice my room has a much fresher smell. I will add more to this review in a few weeks. My main reason for buying this dehumidifier was to help with some mold issues and I will know how well this unit works on mild mold growth with some use. However for now I can tell with the way this Unit is working I can bet we will have satisfactory results for sure! Another thing I have noticed is my allergies have been much better, I am not as plugged up when I wake in the morning after leaving the Dehumidifier run during the night !
Far as noise goes it does hum!! But I love White Noise while I sleep . I suppose for those who do not like the louder hum you can always use the lower fan setting. I use mine on full blast!
To anyone who has complained about this unit, I am a bit baffled because I just don't see anything wrong with this unit. WORKS TERRIFIC ! Pulls water out of the air extremely well and fast . I may even buy a second one for our down stairs!
Hope my review helps!
It does a good job -- 2010-07-28 I bought this dehumidifier after going over the customer reviews. My basement is small but it had started traces of mildew. After I received this dehumidifier from Amazon, it was relatively easy to hook it up and get it running. I accumulate about a full container every 12 hours and that's just about what I need to keep my 600 square foot basement dry. What I like the most about is that it is quiet and has digital display for controls including humidity level. The UV feature is great if it does the job it claims. I have had it for two weeks so I cannot say much about its reliability. The only downside compared to my older dehumidifier is that it does not have a drain valve for automatic drain and I have to manually empty the tank.

 | Soleus Air DP1-30-03 30-Pint Portable Energy Star Dehumidifier
Great for a little pint... -- 2010-08-30 I've had this machine for about 6 weeks and have used it many times. It's great for small areas--mine's in semi-finished basement. I don't run it all day, however, since it sucks up moisture well in 4-hour intervals (one of 2 automatic settings you can program, the other being 2 hours). I tried running it longer a couple of times, but smaller intervals seem to work better. I also don't have it hooked up to a hose for drainage, but use the machine's reservoir instead (recycle the water on my garden plants). The auto shut-off is a great feature when the reservoir gets too full. This isn't a heavy duty machine (which may explain some of the negative reviews where it sounds as if machine is running a lot), but it pulls the moisture beautifully from my basement in, again, the short cycles that I program.
It's construction is solid (for plastic), the wheels work well and make an otherwise heavy machine easy to move around (not always the case on heavy molded plastic products), and the functions are fairly idiot-proof. I haven't changed the filter yet, so can't speak to that feature. Surprisingly compact and stylish as well. Will be getting one for my first floor next summer, assuming this one continues to purr like the happy little kitten it is right now...
Not what I was promised -- 2010-08-23 Description of product cited direct drainage with added hose. This did not drain at all, requires drilling hole in bottom of bucket, or constant emptying. Soleus air DP1-30-03 30-. Very disappointing!

 | Bionaire BDQ01-UC Mini Dehumidifier
Cute little dehumidifier, pity it barely works. -- 2010-07-13 I picked up the Bionaire BDQ01 from a local bath-n-everything store and got a very good deal on it (it was a display model, so I paid half of the current price). Since I have a huge dehumidifier in the basement, i figured a small one I could move from the main floor to the upper floor would be a great idea.
The Bionaire is lightweight and has a handle for picking it up and moving it around. It has a basic on-off switch in the back, which is where the water "bucket" can be removed. It also has an LED light on the front to let you know when it's working; not that you wouldn't know, since this dehumidififer runs at about the same noise level as a desk fan.
Two problems I have with the Bionaire BDQ01:
1) the "black box" on the extension cord gets extremely hot. Hotter than a laptop/netbook extension cord "box". So make sure if you buy this dehumidifier that you have a place to rest the cord where it won't pose a fire risk.
2) the Bionaire BDA01 doesn't pull out a whole lot of water. I have a humidity gauge in my kitchen and it read 70% humidity when I plugged in the dehumidifier. 5 hours later? The gauge reads 68% (possibly because I turned the a/c back a few degrees) and the Bionaire has just a few drops of water in it. Meanwhile, my 65-pint LG in the basement is almost ready to be emptied, and the humidity downstairs is 55%.
It seems that dehumidifiers are a real gamble, with one person getting a decent machine and another getting the same machine but one that doesn't work as well. I'm not too upset about this dehumidifier not really working but I didn't pay much for it. Until there are overall quality standards for these machines I guess it can't be helped.
So far so good -- 2010-06-30 I bought this dehumidifier yesterday and in less than 12 hours it has collected about an inch of water. I used before products that use some crystal balls to absorbed water and these crystal balls get dissolved so you don't know how much is water and how much is the crystal balls. With this product I know this water is all from the room. It is pretty quiet and the price is not bad at all. I am planning on buying additional ones for the other rooms in the house since I live in a very humid city in Cartagena, Colombia.

 | SPT Evaporative Air Cooler with Rotating Louver, SF-616
AIR COOLER -- 2010-08-30 I am actually rating Amazon for this review, not the cooler. The cooler did not work for me at all, but it just must not have been what I needed for that room. But I received the product very soon after ordering, and Amazon was very gracious in letting me return it and even giving me credit for shipping costs. So, Amazon gets my 5 stars.
Cool on the porch -- 2010-08-09 We bought this cooler to help with the heat on our screened in porch. It works well and allows us to stay on the porch on even the very hot days.

 | Sunpentown SD-350 60-Watt Mini Dehumidifier
Doesn't work -- 2010-06-17 Pass on this. Our apartment is very humid. We've had this running for a month in our bathroom, and emptied it once- it was only half full.
Power cord issues -- 2009-09-30 The unit worked ok until the plug melted. The part of the plug that connects to the unit got so hot it melted the plastic. Major fire hazard. I am going to see if I can get a refund.
