WHY DIDN'T I GET ONE OF THESE SOONER???!! -- 2010-09-03
WOW - What a perfect invention for a mother of 3 toddlers. My floors are always covered in crumbs.... cheerios, crushed goldfish crackers, etc. After a long day I was always too tired to pull out the big vacuum. I can't believe how simple and easy this swivel sweeper is. I was totally skeptical about it (my parents gave me their extra one) and I am amazed at how well it works! It picks up all the junk off of my hardwoods, cleans crumbs up off of the carpet - basically it is a total sanity-saver and my house has never looked so clean! I'm tempted to buy these as gifts for all of my friends having babies. It is a MUST for families with "crumby" little ones :)

I'm usually leery of these TV hawked items as many of the items are junk and don't last, don't perform as advertised, or not easy to use.
But...I ordered this Swivel Sweeper anyway and for the money I paid including the shipping and handling for two of them it came came close to $60.
I got it for a quick cleanup on tile floor through out the house. For my purpose on the 19" square tile floor I can say it works as advertised. It has some trouble with pieces of grass but the troublesome pieces are quickly picked up with a "side sweep". Why the side brushes pick up grass easier I can't answer, but it does. The sweeper is very light and not the studiest item made for this purpose. I've been using it for around 4 months almost daily and somewhere along the line lost one of the sliders on the bottom but it doesn't seem to effect the pickup or sliding capability.
What amazed me was the amount of stuff it picked up when I emptied it. Dirt I couldn't even see was picked up along with the stuff I did see.
Prior to buying this I bought a Shark model at Wal-Mart and the Swivel Sweeper tops it in all cases. Especially the lightness and ease of use. Pulling the dirt container out of the Shark is difficult and when it finally unsnaps and pops out dirt goes everywhere.
In summary, this thing works great for the intended use and considering the price I would recommend it to anyone and have done so to family members. It does good on short pile carpets but it really shines on hard floors. Of course, it isn't a vacuum cleaner and isn't recommended for weekly house cleaning but for quick clean ups it's an excellent choice in my opinion.

Best vacuum I have ever owned! -- 2010-09-03
I love this vacuum. It is the best that I have ever owned. Was very easy to put together and cleans up the floor perfectly. I LOVE the pet hair attachment. I clean up the couch and chairs in minutes and works way better then all the other pet hair collector gadgets I have bought over all the years. The self propel makes it much easier to use with thicker carpet. Only complaint I have it that the belt has fallen off twice now, but only takes me about 3 minutes to slip it back on, why I only rated 4 stars. However, for how great the vacuum works, I can slip back on the belt every few weeks! You will not regret this vacuum. Works wonderful and has a great price tag.

As a long time buyer on Amazon.com I believe this is the first time I have written a review. I am motivated to write about the Hoover U6485-900 due to complete disappointment in the quality of the product. Received it today. Inoperable after 5 minutes. And already on the way back to Amazon. While we all have gotten accustomed to lower quality construction and materials over the years this vacuum must represent the bottom-of-the-barrel in my opinion. Tools fall out of their holders, on-off switch is flimsy at best, thin plastic construction and the belt broke within 5 minutes of use. I can't understand how Consumer Reports recommended this vacuum. The only explanation may be that compared to what else in avialable in the markterplace this vacuum is better? A sad commentary.

The Black and Decker car vacuum worked well, picking up pieces of grass and small pebbles. It got under the front seats well. The only problem I noticed was cleaning the carpet evenly when there were no particles to pick up.

Excellent for spot cleaning, but it will not replace a good vacuum. I purchased this to keep in the car for routine cleanups and catching messes when they happen. The cord is nice and long, so that helps. Overall, not a bad buy but probably better at a lower price.

This thing doesn't vaacum at all. It evenly moves any dirt and dust trough your house and thats about it. Its as noisy as a jet, heavy and totally useless. My husband had to buy it cause it looked cool or whatever but he simply bought the worst piece of crap ever made... I loathe vaacuming our apartment because it only means I'll hurt my toes trying to move this tank trough our apartment, cause my cat to panic and poop all over the floor and in the end its still dirty. It has great suction. Lot's of accessory tools. It's nice to just empty the canister than to change a bag. Has a small belt window so you don't have to wonder about a broken belt because you can see it. I'm glad I chose this one!

I'm completely disappointed with this vacuum. I got it to use on hardwood in a small house with 2 dogs. Like some of the other reviews have stated, the exhaust blows the pet hair away before you can vacuum it up, and the tools are awkward and lack suction. I don't understand why sharks are so popular, this is a terrible vacuum.

Ok, so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a new vacuum. I've never been able to justify $500 for a vacuum so subsequently I buy $200 or less vacuums and need to replace them say every three or four years. I actually like trying new models and getting new stuff every few years. I also own 2 dogs who drop a lot of fur. I have hard wood floors and lots of area rugs of various thicknesses. Along with the usual dust and webs. I was wanting to replace my Hoover Wind Tunnel (just needed "more"-- one with more reach to get up in the corners of the ceiling, skylights, ceiling fans, etc.) I was looking at the Dyson Reach and Dyson Animal and then I got a really killer deal on a new Shark Navigator Extreme Reach (comes with tons of extra "animal" and floor attachments, and extra hose section which yields 21-foot reach!). And the 7 year warranty sounded great so I bought it.
Easy to assemble, lightweight, bag full of extras. After I had it assembled I cleaned my living room with my Wind Tunnel. Then I did it again with my Shark..HOLY COW BATMAN! I could not believe my eyes! The stuff it picked up was amazing! It got up a ton more fur, and dust and dirt that must have been down deep deep in the rugs. I never saw that stuff come up with the Hoover. I had to dump the bin 3 times! (Shark bin is kind of small, but I don't mind at all, it just amazes me to see the stuff it picks up). And, the carpet nap was all fluffed up and the whole room looked like brand new. Honestly! I went from area rug, to area rug, to hard wood floors to area rug. Amazing suction, light-weight and easy to maneuver and use. I love it. I am a huge fan, hence this review.
It never lost suction, and it's quieter than my Hoover. Light weight, long cord. It's my new BFF. I highly recommend this vacuum. (Only nit would be it doesn't have a retractable power cord.)
I never tried a Dyson, but I can tell you that I can't imagine one working better than this. And my deal was $158 (with $30 off coupon and $75 store credit, final price $53; I feel like I won the lottery!)

i just got a puppy so i knew that we needed to get a carpet cleaner, especially when the new puppy got sick, so I went looking for the best one (that was still affordable) and I have to say that i love this item!
I was a little skeptical when i saw some of the reviews- like it doesn't hold a lot of water, and it's hard to use.. etc. but i decided to buy it anyway and keep the box just in case.
Anyway, I love this cleaner!!! it is perfect for cleaning up small spills or puppy accidents. if you have a large area to clean, i would suggest going with a bigger plug-in sort of cleaner, but for small to medium stains it is perfect. it is light weight and handheld so you can carry it to different rooms, and up stairs with ease. it holds a good amount of solution, and i haven't had a problem with it not holding enough dirty water. some of the reviews i read said that it gets full too fast and you have to stop and empty it... again, that may be the case if you are cleaning a large area, but i haven't had any problems with it. also, it does come with a small bottle of solution so you don't have to buy solution right away.. i did not know that. also, the cleaning head of the machine is a bigger width than the big plug-in bissel machine so you actually can clean a larger area in one motion than you can with the other machine's attachable heads, which i think it pretty handy. as far as the ability to get out stains, it is really good. i used it yesterday when a bunch of bar-b-q sauce was spilled on the white carpet and it cleaned it up no problem. and with no visible stain remaming.

I just used this carpet cleaner for the first time on old carpet stains, and it worked FANTASTICALLY! I wish the battery life were a little longer, but it is so easy to use and very effective! I am a big fan.

So in love with my dust buster!! I charged for the full 16hrs as recommended for first inital charging and it works great it has great suction. It doesn't have a long life but long enough to do what I need. I'm not trying to vacuum the entire house with it just small quick jobs.

Just bought this 2 weeks ago and it works great around the house. Very handy for new kittens litter that ends up on the floor. I also like the flip crevice tool- perfect for cars and getting those hard to reach areas. Holds its full power for 7-10 minutes. I am happy with my choice.

I didn't want to buy this because I figured the "Extreme" label was just a sales ploy with lots of graphics. Turns out this is a darn good vac with a lot of suction power. The front is a bit odd in that you need to hold the unit at a very sharp angle for the hole to be level with the floor but not a big deal for small cleanup jobs.
It has lasted me about a year of almost daily use before I now need to replace the filter. I'd recommend this unit to my friends.
