Powerful but small fan! -- 2010-08-18
I've had a Holmes fan since 2002, a white one from target that was only $25. It was a 16" stand fan, and it wasn't nearly as powerful as this 12" fan. I love this fan! its awesome and quieter than my old one. I use it all the time. I love the remote, even though my old one had a remote too. Overall, this is a great and reliable fan! I will use this forever. Until it breaks, than I get the same exact one again.

disappointing -- 2010-08-09
I like that Amazon has reviews, but once in a while I am disappointed when I follow them. This is one of those times. A lot of money for an ok fan. Keeps falling over and I will have to look for something else that really cools a room.

Lasko 3540 Cyclone 20 inch Fan -- 2010-06-01
I purchased this fan from the reviews of others. I had purchased another fan last year and wanted to get a second one but it was no longer available. So I purchased this fan and like the other reviewers have said it is a great fan. I needed one for the basement in my workshop and this fan really puts out the air. It is an air mover. You can feel the air from 30 feet away. The remote control is a plus. I would highly recommend this fan.

Efficient air mover. Very easy to clean. -- 2010-08-01
I really didn't think of this fan as anything more than adequate and it had a rattle on high until it came time to clean it. I have never encountered an easier fan to disassemble, you don't even need a screwdriver! The little plastic tabs that hold the front guard securely in place snap loose with minimal direct pressure towards the center of the fan. The blades and rear guard have plastic retainers that screw off and on with ease. Once I reassembled the fan and tightened the blade retainer just a little more than before disasembly, the rattle on the high setting disappeared completely. I run it without the guard when nobody is around for vastly improved airflow efficiency (the low setting without the guard puts almost as much wind as high with the guard on). Before somebody comes over the guard is easily re-installed in under a minute.

Cheap construction, good air flow -- 2010-06-30
I got this fan because the air conditioning in the house doesn't work well in my room. And in the southern heat and humidity, cool air at night and during the day is a must. The instructions were very easy to follow. However, the construction and sturdiness of the fan is questionable. The base is not screwed into the base, but rather just sits in the hole of the base. The same goes for the motor, which just sits on top of the post. Also, the locking cap on the post doesn't work well. I thought I had it nice and tight at my desired height, but a few minutes later the fan and post dropped to the lowest setting. I had a hard time holding the fan up and tightening the cap at the same time. Also, attaching the fan cage was difficult, since it is plastic and bends easily. As for the air flow from the fan, it is okay. It moves the air well and strongly. And the fan doesn't make any noises when it oscillates. It is loud, though. I had to put it on the low setting while on the phone. I hope I can sleep with it on. The cage is attractive, looking like it has a leaf-like design. Overall, it's an okay fan. It's cheaply constructed and loud, but then I only need it for a couple months. Whether or not I take it with me when I move again has yet to be decided.

Great little fan -- 2010-09-06
Perfect for using at a desk, which I did for awhile, then we needed a small fan in the baby's room and this is doing the job. It has been working for a few months now. It is quickly and easily moved just about anywhere you need it. The fan is easy to clean, quiet, and a good amount of air for its size. I've taken it to the patio a few times and clipped it to the table, or the back of a chair, it really does go anywhere.

Nice inexpensive fan -- 2010-09-06
I bought this fan to cool off my garage,it does not move a tremendous amount of air but it does the job and is relatively quiet. I like the automatic temperature control feature.

good fan -- 2010-09-05
Nice fan, good circulation. I like the various settings and the fact that the fan will shut off when it reaches a certain temp.
Fairly quiet.

We love this fan! -- 2010-09-03
We got it to fit in our bedroom widow and replace a china-mart special that was so loud we had to turn it off when we went to be (kinda defeats the purpose). The Bionaire is much, much, MUCH quieter and moves much more air. We can actually have it running all night and it isn't so loud you can't fall asleep with it running. We often set the temperature control so the fan goes on and off as needed. Love it!

Nice -- 2010-08-06
This fan is very effective for those of us who do not like air conditioning.

Great little fan. Bad unit. -- 2010-08-30
I LOVE this fan. I do. It's small. It's quiet. It's fun to stick your finger into the blades.

BUT.

Mine started making a buzzing/grinding noise. Basically the bearing wore out. I only had it for a couple of weeks when it started. I found that if I flip the fan upside-down it doesn't buzz anymore, so that's how I'm using it. Upside-down!

PLUS:

Small
Easy to pack and take with you.
Quiet (You almost can't hear it when it's on low.)
Just right for a desk or bedside table.

MINUS:

Bearing wore out in 2 weeks. (I assume this is a rare occurrence, and it's certainly not stopping me from buying another.)

Not big enough for a whole room. (This is a personal fan. It's not going to move air around your office/bedroom.)

Awesome fan -- 2010-08-18
I have used one of these fans now for several years and don't think that a better fan could be made that provides cooling to a small space. I generally use one at my desk at work and also keep on my bedside table. This fan is very quiet, even on high speed, and does an extremely good job of keeping things cool.

Not Good -- 2010-07-30
The tilting feature works on my fan, but it hardly blows any air out. I would not recommend this fan.

Very affordable, cheap construction, but been working for years -- 2010-06-28
We have this fan for years now. It is like a cockroach. Sometimes I wish it would stop working so we can replace it with a better looking and more trendy one. But it keeps working year in year out, and we feel guilty to throw it out since it still working hard.

Construction is cheap. It is very light. Everything is made of plastic except for its heart and brain. You can tilt it up or down, but no sideways oscillation. It has 3 speeds, the fastest one is loud.

88 watts. A bit hungry on electricity compared to our new desktop mini-tower which only consumes 23 watts. Overall, a pretty good value for a fan that works overtime.

Vornado V8 Flippi Personal Fan, Medium, BlackVornado V8 Flippi Personal Fan, Medium, Black

just not strong enough -- 2010-09-05
Nice looking item and seems sturdy enough but just does not create enough air flow. You basically have to have this on top of you to feel any air at all. So, if you can keep it close, like on next to you on a desk, then it should work fine. But, if you have to keep it a few feet away I would probably go with something else.

LOVE IT! Perfect for small office/cubicle. -- 2010-08-18
The Vornado V8 Flippi delivers on its promises. The clean lines, small size, variable output, and oscillation brings adaptability to small-office cooling and air circulation.

The appearance and size are perfect for a small office where often all of the available work- and shelf-space is limited. I have mine on a shelf in my credenza/book-case, on a shelf where I keep 3-ring-binder reference materials. It takes up little space and blends well with the black binders and cherry wood finish.

I really love the way it moves air and the vertical range of air-flow adjustment. Often, oscillating fans have a limited vertical adjustment for air-flow direction (if they have vertical adjustment at all), and the air flow tends to send loose papers on my desk flying. The Vornado doesn't, even though it is putting out more air than my previous fan.

The Vornado is quieter than my previous fan, but still provides the white noise I need for the occasional times when communication privacy is needed. I train incoming staff, and my office in the training room is a large cubicle (so I can be available to trainees should they have issues during the training program).

My husband also loves the fan, and will be purchasing one for his psychotherapy offie.

Great quiet fan -- 2010-08-28
This is the best fan I've used, it has good air flow for its size and it's the quietest one I've ever used. Somewhat expensive and I've had two break already, but they've also lasted for years running 24/7 so I don't really hold that against it. I'll continue to buy these as needed until they're no longer available.

Works Great -- 2010-08-24
I got this fan for use in my room at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan because the air did not circulate around my B-Hut. This fan sits at the door and has done a great job so far of pulling cooler air in the room and circulating it. I love the oscillation feature and so far, it has been everything I could want. I hope it makes it through the deployment so I can send it home and use it there too.
