Crane Crane Tear Drop HumidifierCrane Crane Tear Drop Humidifier

Me too! -- 2009-12-19
I own a couple of very good Martin guitars; I keep them on a stand so that I can play upon them regularly. I got a reminder from Acoustic Guitar magazine that there is a need to maintain a certain level of humidity for high quality acoustic instruments during the cold dry days of winter (I live in New England). I saw the review posted above, and based on that, bought this humidifier.
It works perfectly. I set it about halfway and it keeps the room at exactly 40%. It is quiet, runs for 18 hours on a refill, and looks cool!
I recommend it enthusiastically, especially for musicians.

Great Humidifier for a Great Price -- 2009-04-16
I bought this humidifier about a month ago because I play an instrument that needs to be in a properly humidified environment. It's wonderful! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it's super quiet. I use distilled water and I don't have to refill it often at all. It's perfect for my small room. There haven't been any problems with leaks, dust, or damage, and I love that I don't have to worry about filters. 100% satisfied!

Very Satisfied! -- 2010-03-10
The first Humidifier I received, did not work properly. I called the "800" listed on the insert if you encountered a problem. Actually a live person answered. I explained the problem, she knew exactly what was wrong, said it was defective, send it back and we'll ship a new one.

I received a new humidifier within a week. Put it together and it works perfectly. You can set the percentage of humidity you would like and the humidifier shuts on and off to keep the humdity at the selected level. I like the fans 4 speeds. Setting number 1& 2 are very quiet, although 3 and 4 are not bad. The humidifier covers 1300 sq feet which is perfect for my entire downstairs. There are two water tanks, I fill them every other day, but the humidifier shuts off and a red light appears when it is out of water.

One of the best Humidifiers I have tried -- 2010-02-28
I've tried several humidifiers and this one is the easy to use and is easy to fill.
The design makes it very easy to find a place that is out of the way. The high(4) fan speed is noisy, but the 3 speeds below that are quiet. I set the humidity to one below the max with fan speed at 3 and it goes through one tank every 4-5 hours. I also use a Protec cartridge placed in the base of the reservoir and have had no problems with mildew so far. This one is a keeper.

Crane 2.1 Gallon COOL Mist HumidifierCrane 2.1 Gallon COOL Mist Humidifier

only works for 1 hour at a time -- 2010-04-26
Purchased this item because it had pretty good reviews in other Web sites, and some Amazon reviews were favorable. When it arrived, we noticed that it appeared to be in "used" condition - the cord was not tightly wound. I think at least one other reviewer at Amazon noticed this same fact. (That reviewer also had problems with the vaporizor.)

We filled the reservoir with water and started the vaporizor. It put out a good stream of "steam" for about 55 minutes. Then the output began to weaken and stopped about 5-10 minutes later. We read the manual and made sure that the unit was on a hard flat surface. After a period of rest, we plugged it back in and turned it on again. Same behavior - steady stream at first, but eventually it just stops putting out any moisture.

I suspect that we got the same used unit. Maybe when it was returned before, someone at Amazon filled the reservoir, turned it on, and saw the steady stream of moisture, and concluded that the unit worked OK without giving it the one-hour test."

We decided to return the unit and get a vaporizor elsewhere.

Great product -- 2010-03-29
I took a long time researching humidifiers and glad that I did. Very happy with this Crane model. It does what it claims and is easy to clean.

Needed warranty service -- 2010-01-01
I hope I just got a rare bad one, but my unit purchased 6 months ago now sounds like a lawn mower. It gets louder as I increase the speed to medium and high. I keep it running 24/7 and I suspect the ball bearings in the fan motor are worn out.

I called Therapure's customer service center to file a warranty claim and they offered to replace my unit, but they want me to pay $29.95 for a shipping and handling fee. That's 1/3 of the price I paid for the new unit 6 months ago and I'm not willing to pay another 30% of the price for them to replace my unit.

Just a warning, if you ever need warranty service.

This product is awful

If I could return it as easily as other sites (like LL Bean) I would

Problem means taking it to the Post Office and waiting in line, and paying almost as much as the product in Postage

Very, very unhappy

I will think long and hard before purchasing anything from Amazon, unless I have used the product previously

BUYER BEWARE OF THIS AWFUL PRODUCT! -- 2010-03-15
Black soot from the deteriorating heating element comes out in the vapor you breathe.

disappointing -- 2010-04-12
This humidifier does not last overnight even if it's filled with water from top to bottom.
After the fist use, I put this product back in the box.
Humidity output is average.

great little humidifier -- 2010-03-12
It's been about a month. Have nothing to complain about it. Easy to use. Easy to clean. Much easier than the cool mist one we had last year. Had to throw that one out due to frustration caused by mold buildup, despite cleaning every few days. With this one, all you do is rinse the water tank with bleach and water, and soak the other parts with vinegar once a week or even 2. Everything came out looking like new. No funky smell. No mold. No mineral buildup. It's also small enough to be completely inconspicuous, yet powerful enough to humidify our whole first floor with ease (700 sq ft). I left it on 24/7, on high during the day, and low during the night to make the water last longer, and it even kept our bedrooms upstairs nicely humidified (another 700 sq ft). Not bad for tiny little machine!

Made Big Difference -- 2010-06-12
For the price, it's a very good whole house humidifier. It's dry in Arizona where we live, and my spouse had problems with dry nasal membranes that caused allegy-like symptoms. The humidifer has made a tremendous difference, putting at least five gallons of moisture into the living area every day. The house interior temperature seems more comfortable than before, even with the AC set at 80 degrees.
It does take some effort re-filling the 2.5 gallon tank (weighing around 20 lbs.), but that would be typical of any large humidifier. Bacterial-static solution to prevent algae, mold, etc. must also be added with each re-fill.
My only complaint is that it's really noisy at any speed beyond the minimum speed, which we usually use. There is also a very subtle vibration rattle that is barely noticeable. Even at low speed, it might not be appropriate for use in a bedroom for anyone who is a light sleeper. However, the noise (on minimum speed) is not that noticeable elsewhere. I would purchase this product again.

Humidifier is okay not sure how long it will last. -- 2010-03-22
The product is okay. I have been running it non stop for 2 months. Cheaply made, floater gets stuck so sometimes you have to shake the humidifier so it will turn on after refilling.

5 stars for quality and Kaz customer support -- 2010-06-17
This is an excellent humidifier. We use it on warmer days because it does not heat the air like a warm mist / steam humidifier. A full tank routinely lasts us 2 days. It is as quiet as any other humidifier we have owned.

But the best thing about this is it is made by Kaz. I dropped the empty tank and it cracked. I thought I'd have to just go buy a new humidifier, but I decided to try calling the toll-free number on the sticker on the bottom of the unit. I spoke to a real, live person from Kaz who knew exactly what model I was talking about, and she helped me order a fifteen dollar replacement tank, which arrived by UPS in 2 days! What's more, she followed up to make sure that I had a cap (since the replacement tank did not include a cap). VERY impressive! You just don't find friendly, attentive customer service like that much anymore.

This thing's a blast, it's my second humidifier and I'm keeping it -- 2010-06-07
This is my second humidifier, and it's got most of the things you'd want in a cool mist humidifier. My first was the Elephant looking one from the Crane company. This one's from Vick's a Ferrari if compared to the slow poke Elephant. Night and Day.

SETUP: Requires the demineralization unit to be soaked for about 10 minutes first. Can be soaked in the lower half of the unit without taking it out (manual didn't say that).

The top water container is a bit confusing, didn't quite know how to fill it with water. Maybe I looked too closely at the manual drawing. It was pretty straightforward by looking at the two piece unit.

OPERATION: Wowzers! This unit blasts out a cool mist even at the lowest setting. If you set it to the highest setting, it'll cool down the room and make it humid within 10 minutes for a 12x12 ft bedroom.

Another cool fact: when the lights are off, the dial has a soft green LED lamp that points at what your setting is!

It doesn't turn itself off when it's a done, dinged this a star for this.

NOISE: It sounds like a soft boiler eventhough there's no heat involved. There's also a soft dripping noise. Not a big deal, quite soothing really. What do you expect from a unit that blasts out mists like a sports car?
