Works fine -- 2010-07-21
I bought this to use with my Singer 6038C because I couldn't find a genuine Singer zipper foot in stock anywhere! From what I could tell, sewing machines usually come with a zipper foot, but since I got mine 2nd hand, it got lost somewhere along the way.

I did notice that when I have the zipper foot attached I can't have the needle set to the extreme right (or left, depending on which side the foot is attached to) or the needle will hit the middle shank of the foot. Since this is my first zipper foot and my first sewing machine I'm not sure if this is expected or not. Either way, it's easy to just not set the needle to that side.

Janome Sewist 500 -- 2010-08-22
I love it, love it, love it. I haven't sewn for years, but decided that I would give a shot at making new bedding after taking a textiles class this spring. The Janome came with excellent reviews and a "test drive" revealed the excellent nature of the machine. The stitches are exquisite. And it is probably the easiest, most intuitive machine I have ever touched. It is solidly built and has more features than most sewers will ever use. I also like the fact that it is mechanical, rather than electronic (fewer things to go wrong). An all around great machine.

A super functional masterpiece !! -- 2010-08-07
I'd done a bit of research on sewing machines on the internet prior to the purchase of the Janome Sewist 500. This purchase is an investment for me. It is well worth it. The machine is super functional. I'd recommend this sewing machine for first time sewists who'd like to continue sewing as a hobby. The instructions in the user manual and youtube videos on sewing helped me learn the basic techniques. I sewed on computer paper first to learn to sew in straight lines/curves etc., then mended my clothes, sewed hand-made cards, sewed pillow cases and I'm planning on more projects. The user manual helps here again with the stitch settings. A sewing machine has to be kept clean and I love the fact that it comes with a hard case.

Could not make it work -- 2010-08-12
I bought the package of Distinctive 7-8", 5-8", 3-8", 1-4" wide rolled hem hemmer foot, and cannot make it work.
The seam is not consistent, the fabric goes out of the path, the edge slips up instead of being folded and is not catched by the needle as it should be. Seems like a guide should be a little longer to better secure the fold, but it is just my opinion.
A 6 mm hemmer foot from another manufacturer, which I have now, works great, but it makes too narrow a seam. These feet just don't work for me at all.
Sorry, just waste of money.

perfect accessories -- 2010-05-30
If you do a lot of sewing this is a must have to speed up your sewing time.
a bit difficult to start with, but works great if you know how.
the smaller ones are defiantly better and easier to use.

Buttoneer RefillButtoneer Refill

Will Not Work in a Real Original Buttoneer -- 2010-08-21
Searched & read & tried to see pictures of construction of the refills to make sure these "originals" would work in our "original" buttoneer. They don't, but we had no way of knowing that the whole insertion mechanism of the Buttoneer had changed so much and was still being called "original." I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the refills, but we can';t use them in our 30+ year old Buttoneer.

Don't buy from GetOrganized. They cheat!!!!! -- 2010-01-04
The "ShopGetOrganized" supplier cheated me by sending 50 and NOT 100 Buttoneer fasteners. I plan NEVER AGAIN to shop Amazon until I receive the 50 Buttoneer fasteners owed to me.
I rate this supplier 0 out of a possible 10 for satisfaction.

Great purchase; great item; no more buying from Husqvarna when I can get the same product at such a great price.

SINGER HD-110 Heavy Duty Model Sewing MachineSINGER HD-110 Heavy Duty Model Sewing Machine

Back to the drawing board -- 2010-08-24
Uhm...no. Sorry guys, back to the drawing board on this machine. It is absolutely riddled with design flaws and I must agree with another reviewer: Singer is NOT the company it once was, certainly not the company that has been used and trusted in my family for over 80 years. There is NOTHING (I repeat, NOTHING) heavy-duty about this machine. Basically, this is a standard grade home sew machine, repackaged to look "industrial" with a beefed-up, clutch style motor. Though this machine is very fast (as fast as most industrial machines) it does not have the pressure in the presser foot nor the power in the feed mechanism to support the motor speed. With the slightest resistance, the motor will race away, producing stitches while your work remains stationary under the presser foot. Though the variable needle position is handy, it is very unstable. The slightest pull dislodges the needle position (even with the needle at its lowest point)producing uneven stitch length and unpredictable stitch position. Needless to say, top stitching produced by this machine in anything heavier than cotton broadcloth is appalling. Just forget sewing with wool melton or any other cloth that has substantial loft. Because of insufficient foot pressure, this machine skips in heavy fabrics and leaves clumps of unused thread on the bobbin side. And speaking of bobbins...who would use a Type 66 bobbin in what is called a heavy duty machine? Yes, the drop-in bobbin is very convenient but the Type 66 requires constant re-threading. It's simply not a bobbin with high enough capacity for large or heavy jobs. I agree with a previous reviewer: the accessories included with this "heavy duty" machine are a joke. The spot-weld on the general purpose foot broke within the first week of use. It is now held together with crazy glue because I dread calling Singer for a replacement. The so-called zipper foot is a half inch piece of plastic encased in something resembling tin foil. Also broken. When I received my machine, the accessory package, foot pedal, power cords, warranty and owners manual were missing from the box. It took three weeks to get them. The owners manual was back ordered for over 8 weeks. Is no one at Singer nimble-minded enough to scan the manual and make it available as a PDF download? Perhaps the most frustrating thing about this machine is that, at the $200.00 plus price point, it does not include features available on Singer's entry level machine, Singer Simple. The Simple model includes variable foot pressure (which is easily tightened using the enclosed screw driver) or the extra inch of clearance under the presser foot, VERY handy for heavier projects. Honestly, I tried to return this machine two weeks after purchase but neither the supplier nor Singer would take it back. Singer has the worst customer service department I have ever encountered and...well...just skip the website. It is woefully inadequate. Two thumbs down!

Works Well -- 2010-05-10
When you use thinner material it does a double ruffle like a dream.
It took some getting used to but now I love it. Had to make 14 little girl's costumes with ruffles and it saved me many hours of frustration,

Not bad -- 2010-05-30
I didn't want an expensive sewing machine. I just wanted to hem my boy's pants which are always too long, and it works for that. The instructions are pretty bad but with a little help from Youtube I figured it out. I was able to rethread the bobbins and use the thread I had without any problem. I think if I, who has never used a sewing machine in his life can figure it out, just about anybody can.

So sad -- 2010-03-27
I was sad that only way the machine work was with the bobbins and thread that came with it. I even empty one of the bobbins to use with new thread and did not work right. The machine works with thin fabric it does not work with heavy fabric very will.

EASIER THAN EXPECTED -- 2010-07-06
I was a little worried about using this sewing machine, but I can honestly say it was easy. Between the directions in the manual and the diagrams on the machine, I had it threaded in less than 15 minutes. I was able to find all the answers to my questions in the manual. After sewing a sample of maybe 10 inches, I decided I was ready and I hemmed a shirt for my mom. It looks professional. I know this machine will save me lots of time and money. I'm really glad I decided to buy it.

works wonderfully -- 2010-03-17
I'm very satisfied with this machine, the stitches was very nice. I love it very much. For this machine,I have an option to either use 2 needles or 3 needles coverstich. One point to note is that this machine don't like a cheap thread, the stitches will break. other than that, it works beautifully.
