 | Blueair Smokestop Filter for Blueair 500/600 Series Air Purifiers, Set of 3
Smoke stop filters -- 2010-05-15 The smoke from our neighbors wood stove flows into our house during the winter months. These filters keep the smoke from spreading throughout the house and makes the air breathable. Very effective.
Say goodbye to "Ewww... what's that smell??!" -- 2007-03-13 I tried the Smokestop filter for the Blueair 402 model, but these are the exact same, only different sized to accommodate the larger models. If you have any issue with odors or cigarette smoke, this is the filter to get.
I had an extreme situation where there was a methane leak in my neighborhood. The fumes were claimed by authorities to be "safe," but I and many other neighbors suffered from headaches, dizziness and nauseousness. The fumes burned at your eyes and it was pretty unbearable. Well, turns out this was to recur for the next few nights, and with no other place to stay, I invested in a Smokestop filter to temporarily replace my particle filter. It was INCREDIBLE. Immediately, all the fumes in the room were swept up by the Blueair and I was able to spend my time in this room with no health issues. (Whenever I left the room to another part of the house, all the previously mentioned symptoms returned.)
What's the difference between the Smokestop and the regular particle filter? This filter has a layer of activated charcoal that captures odors, and still has the familiar particle filtering layers, all built into one. Simple concept, and yes, a lot of other air cleaners have charcoal, but this one is specific to the Blueair and it's unique air-cleaning technology. After my experience with the noxious fumes in my home, I am completely sold on the effectiveness of this product. If you have any odor issues in your home, then spring a little extra dough for these filters. They are well worth the extra bucks.

 | Rabbit Air BioGS (model 582A - covers 780 sq. ft.) Ultra-Quiet Air Purifier w/ Germicidal Sterilization - Low Maintenance - Washable Filters!, Silver w/ Chrome Accents
It works. -- 2010-07-26 Love this product. Cleans air fast, and it's quiet. Sent one to my oldest grandchild, who lives in an occasionally musty room in a wonderful historic house. Enter lime-green RabbitAir. No musty. Youngest grandchild in same house felt slighted because lime green is HER favorite color. The color works, but so does the product; it helps with her allergies as well. Cleaning the filters is a snap with a handheld vacuum cleaner and Q-tips (sorry, RabbitAir, they do work); no need to continually replace HEPA filters.
Worth the Money -- 2010-07-03 I got this to replace the other air filter (not Rabbit Air) we were moving downstairs into the basement. I really like this one better because it has an Auto feature which senses the air and cylces the fan speed accordingly. It has a pollen setting which will run constantly. Filters are not expensive (comparatively) and the HEPA only has to be replaced every 18 months and the Carbon filter ever 3 years! Just vacuum to maintain!
On auto, the sensor senses chemicals or odors and kicks on accordingly. It has a NON-OZONE creating ion setting which freshens the air it circulates with no funny OZONE smell. Another nice feature is the Turbo Mode. You select Turbo and it runs the fan on high for 10 minutes and then it switches to Auto Mode.
Drawbacks are the bright LCD panel since we have it in the bedroom but I have just put some post it notes over top. If you aren't planning on having it a bedroom (it is a bit large for just one room anyway) this shouldn't be an issue. The other drawback is that if you have it on the pollen setting, you can't use the Auto setting. I had it on Auto (it wasn't running) and switched to Pollen and it started to run. I'm not sure I want it to run on a low speed all the time (which it what the other one did) because I rather liked the idea it kicked off when not needed but... I guess that's the purpose of the Pollen setting. The other drawback is several functions are not available without the remote control. To help not lose it there is a storage slot on the top of the machine.
I would recommend.

 | Surround Air Multi-Tech XJ-3000D Air Purifier
Smokers Heaven -- 2010-07-25 I'm a heavy smoker, and can't stand the smell of smoke in my home ... I had purchased another air purifier about half a year ago, and the cost of the replacement filter, was the same cost of what I paid for the unit ... On top of that, I was not pleased with the results with elimiting odors in my home ... I've had the Surround Air Multi Tech purifier for about a month now, and totally love it ... When company comes into my home, they swear it is free of the old smoke smell, that bothered me so before ... I would totally recommend this product to anyone who has stale or bother some odors, expecially a smoker in their homes, as this unit toally works ...
Surround Air -- 2010-06-07 This is a great machine! It works well (although we haven't had it long)and is so quiet! Love it so far.

 | Hunter 30378 HEPAtech Programmable Air Purifier with 3-Speed Fan
hunter 30090 is 1/3 the cost----same specs as 30083 -- 2010-09-04 30378 is excellent air cleaner and deodizer. Includes built in ionizer, which i can use for a while then turn off. prefilter comes clean by vacuuming with hand held vacuum-----i need to clean filter about every 2 or 3 days. initially i had to clean prefilter every day.---air smells wonderfully clean. as far as i can see,,hunter 30090 does same thing for about 1/3 cost of 30378. Other observation--Surround Air is more expensive at $180 dollars----but has uv light, nano particles and lots of high ratings. I am happy with quality of holmes 30378---seems to clean about 500 sq ft. if i need another purifier, i will consider permament hepa filter models and uv features and nano particles. FYI----HUNTER CADR(CLEANSING EFFECTIVENESS IS 260/260/260. When i purchased i considered CADR AND ROOM SIZE VERY MUCH.
BREATHE BETTER AND SPEND LESS -- 2009-12-06 I've been running the older version of this air purifier 24 X 7 for over 10 years...maybe 12. It is backed up against a wall in a vaulted-ceiling room between a piano and organ where cats like to play. It takes up very little space and consumes a great deal of dust and hair. The exhaust blows straight up the wall which is perfect for this location. Recently, it began emitting a high-pitch, undulating squeal. I assumed that the sealed bearing on the motor shaft was wearing out. So, I ordered this new Hunter Air Purifier. In the mean time, I placed the old squeaky cleaner on its back and soaked the motor shaft with CRC Heavy Duty silicone spray while turning the shaft with my hand for 5 minutes. That was a month ago and it is still running as smoothly and quietly as new. The new cleaner is still in the box, however, I did test it to make certain that it was in good working order.
How would you like to save a ton of money?
Just like printer companies sell their printers at a bargain and then charge a fortune for the ink cartridges, air-cleaner manufacturers employ the same tactics with their disposable filters. Check their prices. OUCH! $30.00 to $60.00. For years I've been using the same pleated, high-efficiency filters that I use in our central heat and air system. I buy them by the case lot(12), online from ACE Hardware for $4.00 each (free shipping to store) and cut them to fit the Hunter Air Purifier. ACE runs frequent sales.
Now, how about the expensive charcoal-pre-filter? Check out the universal replacement pre-filter 38002. They cost about $10.00 each. I have found them in bulk for as low as $8.00 apiece. Cut them to fit. Even the leftover pieces can be easily connected with the enclosed male strips of the hook & loop (Velcro).
Of all the air cleaners running in our home, this Hunter is the least expensive to run 24 X 7 because I can make alternative filters. This is not the case with the large barrel-shaped cleaners and filters that circulate air 360 degrees. When the barrel-shaped air cleaners die, I replace them with these Hunter wall-huggers.
When my back is against the wall, I don't go to the mall. I look for a bargain. That usually begins with Amazon.Com.

 | Mint 4200 Automatic Floor Cleaner
One small pad for MINT. One giant leap for mop kind! -- 2010-09-05 Move over Mr. Clean...here comes R2D2's little cousin, MINT! Like his cousin from a galaxy far far away, this little guy rolls on just about any hard surface. Armed with just a swiffer pad and a charged battery, MINT meticulously, cleans our tile and hardwood floors. It reaches under the beds, sofas, cabinets, tables, and chairs without us having to move a single piece of furniture and is extremely gentle when it comes in contact with furniture and baseboards. We use MINT everyday and we love it. We are even thinking about getting a second one so they can play marco-polo while cleaning the house :) MINT is a must have!
AWESOME -- 2010-09-02
I AM ANAL WHEN IT COMES TO HOUSEWORK. NO MORE CLEANING FLOORS ON MY HANDS AND KNEES. THE "MINT" DOES A WONDERFUL JOB AND GOES UNDER CHAIRS, CABINETS, ETC. AND IF I DON'T REMOVE THE DOG DISH, THE "MINT" MOVES IT FOR ME AND KEEPS ON CLEANING. I LOVE THE TUNE IT PLAYS WHEN ITS JOB IS COMPLETE. IF ONLY IT COULD DO MY SHUTTERS!! I CAN NOW GET RID OF ALL MY DUST MOPS.

 | Holmes HAP706-U True HEPA Mini-Tower Allergen Remover
About as expected -- 2010-06-16 It's fairly loud on High fan, but almost silent on the lower settings.
As for the smell a few people have mentioned... This new unit puts a slight "new" smell into the room, like the smell of a newly-built home or new mobile home. Not bad at all but noticeable, and you may even like that smell. I have not noticed any lung irritation from it. I presume it will go away as the unit is broken in. I have COPD and so do not use the ozone ionizer, so it is not ozone smell. Apart from the smell though, it has an unmistakable cleanness to the output.
I cannot rate the effectiveness on helping on breathing issues yet, it may take a while to get the benefit of removing any irritation and resulting lung inflammation. It is definitely changing the room air though, I'd say these units are a good buy.
Quiet & nice -- 2010-05-18 Nice size and quiet. It seems to be doing its job. No complaints.

 | 3Q AP04S Twin Pack Electrostrostatic Ionic Air Purifier, Cleaner
3Q AP04S TWIN PACK -- 2010-07-30 I live in NYC in a one bedroom apt that's around 650 sq feet. I have two cocker spaniels, a siamese cat and two parrots(African Gery and Red Bellied). I have a cleaning lady that comes twice a month and figured these purifer's would assist with the dust and dander of my pets. I've never had an air purifer before so I wasn't sure what to expect but I did love there industrial look. I figured they would match perfectly with the look of my place. Not to mention the price was nice too. Iv'e had them for 2 1/2 weeks now and I have no complaintes at all. They are small enough to stick in any corner of my place. I decided to put one in my bedroom and the other in the livingroom. They are super quiet and the blue light can work as a night light. After the first week I took out the metal rods and saw nothing on them. I then grabbed a white cloth to wipe them down and wow to my amazement a ton of brown/black stuff was all over the cloth.
It's only been 2 1/2 weeks but so far so good I really like them a lot. :)
ehh itss okk -- 2010-06-10 yes it is ionic and it does have a uv filter BUT the "odor absorbing carbon filter" is nothing more that a piece of mesh screening and does not provide proper filtration, BUT it does seem to do well with its ionic cleaning.

 | Green Air Machine Air Purifier Ozone Generator Fresh Alpine Cleaner
Buy this.... -- 2010-07-08 Bought an ORECK XL air purifier about 2 years ago, but no match for this Green Air Purifier. Aside from being cheaper it really removes household odors and leaves a clean air fresh feeling. I loved to cook so you bet the whole house smells like the kitchen, so I decided to shop around for a new air and efficient purifier. THankfully with the help of other people's reviews and feedbacks here at Amazon I wasn't dissappointed. This product really is great and deserves more than 5 star rating. It arrived in a very good condition and much earlier than expected. The company itself is indeed very nice doing business with and is very and highly recommended. By the way, my Oreck? it is now unemployed and is down the basement.
Great product -- 2010-06-15 This product works wonders!!! Witin 30 minutes of operation, rooms odors wer gone. We've moved it from room to room and it works great on pet odors and "teenage boys room" odors.
