 | Conair GS29 Instant Heat Ionic Professional Garment Steamer
It steams your clothes but also burns your hands. -- 2010-03-29 We wanted to buy a steamer to save on dry cleaning costs. I researched several steamers on this site and finally settled on this one because of the "pause" feature and price.
After using it for several months, this is what I have found:
THE GOOD
1. It takes out most wrinkles and makes an unwearable wrinkly shirt into a wearable shirt. It's not pressed like it came from a dry cleaner but it can be worn without raising any eyebrows.
2. Steaming is less tedious than ironing.
3. The pause feature lets you leave the room and come back to what you were doing later without having to wait for the steam to get going again.
THE BAD
1. You have to be very careful while handling the nozzle. If you tilt the nozzle even slightly, the steam may burn your hand. If the hand that is not holding the nozzle is anywhere above the nozzle (even several feet), you may also feel a burn. If you try to steam the lower areas of your garment, you will feel a burn if you hold it there too long (10 seconds is too long). The pole should be taller and the chord should be longer so you wouldn't have to reach so low and avoid the sting of hot steam. I have learned that you have to keep the nozzle perfectly straight so that the chord is perpendicular to the floor and just move it up and down (never tilt it - a slight tilt could potentially burn you). I also try to keep my other hand as far as possible while handling the garment.
2. The wheels don't lock so sometimes you have to hold the steamer in place.
Overall, the steamer does what it's supposed to and I'd rather have it than not. Laundry that comes out of the dryer wrinkled is not so much of a chore anymore. I haven't gone out and steamed everything like some reviewers have but I did steam a pair of new curtains which were wrinkled when they came out of their packaging and most of the wrinkles came out. I would have never attempted ironing curtains so it was nice to have a steamer.
The time that it takes to steam shirts and pants is less than ironing but it really isn't much less. The difference for me is that I don't have to take out the ironing board, wait for the iron to heat up and they try to press the garment without ironing a wrinkle into it on the other side. The steamer will go around obstacles like buttons with no problem and you don't have to worry about wrinkling other parts. The steamer won't press the collar of a shirt though so you may still need that iron.
I don't use the steamer as much as I thought I would because I have to be extremely careful and even when I am, I feel a burn sometimes. It's really not as much fun as many reviewers say it is, however when I need a shirt dewrinkled, I'd rather steam than iron.
Wish I had thought of it sooner -- 2010-03-25 Honestly, I've never heard of anyone ever steaming their clothes at home. The thought just never occurred to me until I heard it mentioned on TV once. There are so many things that I have avoided wearing for so long because I could never seem to find a way to adequately iron around all the pleats and darts and seams and details.....oy. This is so simple because I can get out the wrinkles without creating any new creases.
That said, I did try to steam a pair of pants and either I was too impatient or the material wasn't the best to try to steam, because I ended up resorting back to my iron to take care of it. So, I wouldn't say it's time to throw away the iron, either. But this does so many things that an iron can't. Including making my suits look like they weren't tossed into the bottom of my backpack after work so I can wear them again without paying for a drycleaner to press them - yay!
So, I guess all that is about steaming in general - now for this steamer in particular. The designers should consider a brake so the wheels don't roll when you would like the unit to stand still. Otherwise, I can't think of a bad thing to say, and honestly, the wheels don't cause me any grief. The water heats up in seconds - it's really remarkable. Assembly was easy and it works well and quickly.

 | FRANZUS TS183MS Micro Pro Steamer for Travel
Love it! A Travel Must-Have -- 2010-07-04 As an avid traveler, I've purchased this steamer as a solution for those overseas hotels which don't provide irons. I used to pack Downy Wrinkle Releaser and make the best of it, but with this easy-to-use, dual-voltage device, I can steam my clothes on-the-go at home and abroad. Since it's a micro steamer, I wouldn't expect to steam a whole suitcase full of clothes on one fill. But it handles one or two outfits very well, and given how light and compact it is, makes for a must-have travel accessory.
Franzus/Conair Travel Smart Travel Steamer -- 2010-03-21 This is a great little steamer--the smallest possible for travel. It does take a while to warm up but worth the wait.

 | Reliable C60 The Board Home Ironing Table
Ironing Made Pleasant -- 2010-08-25 We iron a lot as we like the feel of soft natural fabrics and commercial laundries are ROUGH on clothes- so we are picky. This ironing board is awesome as it is very sturdy, breathes(lets the steam through), is the perfect size(is wide enough so that if your iron tips over it stays on the board), and has a handy iron storage tray for cooling. The construction is very sturdy and of quality materials and is easy to set up & take down. It is not cheap but is an excellent product and worth every penny.
Not a great ironing board for the money -- 2010-06-19 I bought a rowenta board that looked just like this one.. it was a great board.. I could not find one, so I purchased this one.. the biggest problem i have is that in the closed position, this board does not lock. SO, when you pick it up to move it, it springs apart and hit walls, your legs, other people.. You would think at this price point the board would lock closed..
LOOK FOR A ROWENTA it smuch better.

 | Jerdon First Class JD84 Iron and Ironing Board Caddy
Great organizational tool -- 2010-09-07 I live in a tiny apartment, and wanted to purchase something like this for a long time. I'm so glad I finally did! It's great finally having someplace to put my iron and ironing board so that they are out of the way. The products are sturdy and were easy to install. Highly recommended.

 | Steam Buddy Handheld Steamer
IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. DON'T BUY IT!!!!! -- 2010-08-02 I bought one. Read all the instructions. Filled it with water, waited til the heating light went off, primed it 5-10 times as instructed and waited another 5-10 seconds... and nothing. No matter how long I waited or how many or few times I pressed the button NOTHING came out.
Exchanged for numero dos. Same problem.
I must have really wanted this bcs. I returned that and bought a 3rd.
This one actually produced a teeny tiny stream of steam but very inconsistently. Like I said, 'DON'T BUY IT!!!!'
I don't understand the bad reviews! -- 2010-07-28 I really feel that this product has a bad review rating because people took it out of the box, read the directions & didn't get immediate steam, so they assumed it didn't work. The directions that come with the product are misleading- saying that "when the red light goes off, the steamer is ready for use." If I'd only gone by the instructions, I would have assumed that it did not work. Like previous reviewers, I found that it BARELY gave off any steam at all. However, I took the attachment off,and after I WAITED ABOUT 3 MINUTES after the indicator light went off (signaling that it was ready to use) that thing was steaming like crazy! The directions clearly state that it does not give off a steady stream of steam, rather bursts as you push the button. That's exactly what it does- BIG BURSTS! Especially for the price- it's a great deal.

 | Shark Professional Series Intelligent Electronic Iron, GI490
fyretodd -- 2010-07-29 This was my third and last Shark Iron. The first two stopped working after minor drops on the carpet; our fault I guess, but other irons took much more abuse. The last Iron completely stopped working 2 days after warranty and thus, the company wont repair it. In addition, all three irons leaked water very shortly after purchase. Oh well, I'm done with this iron and purchased a Hamilton Beach at a fraction of the cost.
Working fine for me -- 2010-07-24 I ordered this iron again after my first one died. I iron all the time, and the last one worked fine for me for several years so I bought another one.

 | Samsonite Dual Voltage Travel Garment Steamer
Not my best choice -- 2010-08-29 I ordered this steamer when traveling to my daughters wedding. We were going to use it on the bridesmaids dresses. Guess again! It does not emit enough steam to remove any wrinkles. We ended up ironing the dresses the night before the wedding. Upon arriving home I thought to try it on a couple blouses, light weight fabric. There were no wrinkles removed. It is passed the allowed return time frame....in the trash it goes. A total waste of $35. Don't waste your money on this steamer.
travel steamer -- 2010-08-07 Great space saver for travel. Filling the water is not so easy and finding the angle to put back the top is not so easy. But it does the job!

 | Jiffy 0892A Steamboard Vertical Garment Ironing Board
A Satisfied Customer -- 2010-07-07 I have used this item for a year and am completely pleased with it. It has saved me over $300.00 already. A great purchase.
Works Perfectly, But Pricey For What it is. -- 2009-11-20 It works as promised and is sturdy and will last forever. That said, it's pricey for a piece of plywood with cloth on it. If you had a couple hrs and half a handyman mind / the tools, then make it for like $10.

 | Ontel Dryer-Max Lint Removal Kit
vacuum attachment not flexible -- 2010-06-14 Attachment to vacuum cleaner should be more flexible to accomodate a Variety vaccum hose sizes.
Flimsy construction -- 2010-05-28 I bought this to clean dryer exhaust pipe. The 15' brush has very flimsy rod so it won't turn inside the dryer hose so it is useless for me. I throw away packaging as soon as I get the item so can't even return it.
