the unit works well, but the directions are so bad as to be nearly useless. The directions do not tell you how to do numerous things, such as how stretch the curtain-like things to lock them in place at both ends. Frigidaire should be ashamed of their pathetic directions.
The unit seems to work well, but if I was looking to buy something, I would check around for a unit with better directions. Oh, and the unit arrived with a dent because of the shipping company. Now I have to decide if it is worth it for me to get another one sent.

we received this air conditioner really really fast and my husband had it in the window pretty quickly even though its weighs 112 lbs. we've only had it for one day but seems to work great and even tells you the room temp and you can set it to the room temp you want. we are very happy with this product so far.

...it is very small. Even though my air conditioner grille was within the size specs, the small size did not fit...I could not get it on. I purchased the next size up and it fits fine. Keep this in mind when ordering as the quality is excellent and you will get years of use out of it.

These air conditioner covers are the exact same item that costs three to four times more at other stores (I know because I had already bought one locally but couldn't find the right size for the others). Shipment was fast with no problems.

This has been a lifesaver during hot summer days. I agree with the negative reviews about it being noisy, but I have it in my bedroom and I got used to it after 2 nights. I sleep through it now. The LED is also very bright, but not so much that it keeps me awake. I took off a star because of the useless window mount. The hoses weren't long enough for it to reach my window, so I went to Home Depot to build a rig. Replacement hoses are EXPENSIVE, so I didn't buy them. The screws are very short and pop right out of the cheap plastic mount, so I'm using tape to hold them in place. I have since moved and now have casement windows, so I'm in the process of building a new mount in which I will screw the hoses directly into a piece of plexiglass which will sit in the window. I've read that this will work fine, so I'm not concerned about it. One of the negative reviews I read about this unit is that it failed to cool the space. It is designed to cool roughly 600 square feet (a small apartment) so it works fine for my place. I also use a fan to push the cool air into the other room. I like the look of the unit, as well as the fact that it can be a fan or a dehumidifier. I bought plastic tubing for the water collection tank, but it has yet to produce a single drop. The vent hose is doing its job.

Whynter Eco Friendly 14000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner Heater
This Whynter unit has impressive cooling effectiveness. I am currently using it in a small guest house that is not attached to the main house. The guest house itself is not huge, I was estimate at around 275sqft. The area that it is being used in has poor insulation and get warm fast during the day and cold just as fast in the evening. I'm glad we picked the heater function version and it has already come in useful. It defintely cools well and is surprisingly quiet for a portable unit. The install was just as expected for a portable with no fuss. Everything is working perfectly and I hope it stays that way. I would give it top billing as of now.

Another leak! -- 2010-08-20
OK, so my product came MISSING the plug in the back, and since I didn't notice this, when I ran the product, water leaked everywhere. I returned to the store I purchased it from, and they gave me the plug from the floor model...
2.5 months later, the machine made a weird noise, and as indicated by the other posts, water was leaking all over the floor out of the side of the unit! PIECE OF JUNK! I hope my review saves someone the trouble. It WILL work for a while, but it is destined to fail. What a WASTE of money!

I wish I would've seen these reviews first. This thing leaked like crazy after a couple of weeks. I fixed the problem using the solution provided in these reviews but what a pain if I have to open the thing up every couple of weeks. Avoid this unit like the plague.

Horrible a/c. I bought it at P.C. Richard because the one we purchased last summer died in 10 months, then got another one under warranty that didn't work. They came and switched the brand new one with another brand new a/c AND THAT ONE DIDN'T WORK.

Just a note: I am reviewing the AC unit itself and not the vendor mentioned in the other two reviews. FYI: I purchased the AC from Lowes.
The AC works great. I've had it for two years and it has served us well. Very dependable and did a great job cooling the bedroom. Remote looks good but we don't use it at all. Energy Saver works great. The fan also works great on cool days with the windows open. Great through the wall unit. Came back to see if I could find another for the second bedroom as that AC unit conked. It's pretty quiet, at least I found it to be not too loud.

A complete waste of money and time -- 2010-08-06
I intended to use this to cool a small room as the product desc said it would. I used the cool option and added the ice as specified. It was a complete waste of effort. It did not cool. If anything, it generated warm air. I expected a small version of an evaporative air cooler. A swamp cooler should not even need ice to work. Do not bother..
