Product description Compatible with Honeywell 10500 and 17000 air cleaners, the Honeywell True HEPA filter is up to 99.97 percent effective at removing particles as small as .3 microns from the air. True HEPA filters collect such annoyances as dust, mold spores, mites, pet dander, and other troublesome allergens. The difference between a HEPA filter and an ionizer is that the former collects and removes the harmful particles from the air, whereas the latter merely displaces it and pushes it around the room. Overall particle reduction depends on many factors, including the amount of air processed, the pollutant type, and the pollutant's introduction rate in the environment.

WARNING! Not an official Honeywell Enviracaire product! -- 2010-08-28 The description says it's a "Honeywell Enviracaire 20500 True HEPA filter" it is NOT, it is a generic filter.
So glad Amazon has the "A-to-z Guarantee Program"!
fits well -- 2010-07-28 These replacement filters come boxed in a set of two. The pre-filter simply wraps around the round HEPA filter, which is inside the unit, and attaches to itself by means of two velcro fasteners. It takes less than five minutes to change the pre-filter. In between changes, I vacuum my pre-filters to remove accumulated dust and pet hair from them. These pre-filters do help to remove some odors from rooms, especially if you are able to keep the space enclosed where you have the air cleaner running.
Be sure to keep a box or two of these pre-filters on hand in case they become back ordered. The HEPA filter needs to be changed in 1-3 years, depending on conditions where it is located.
enviracaire hepa filter -- 2010-07-16 This filter looks like a much cheaper version of the original filter that came with the air cleaner. It seems to work ok,but I really do not think it will last as long as the original. When held up at an angle ,you can see light through the "pleats". Next time , I will probably spend $12 more and get the manufacturers filter.
The item is fine, but... -- 2009-11-20 I ordered this item and the retailer (Allergy Be Gone) had the item as 'in stock' on their website. Ha! It took about a month before I got the product. And they didn't send me an email to say it was out of stock until I called them after waiting a few weeks!
Stick to Honeywell for air filters. -- 2009-11-05 The first Honeywell air filter HEPA pre-filter I ordered was through Amazon and its site that sounds like a drug store name. It was the wrong filter and it would have taken two that size to accommodate the air cleaner it was supposed to fit, but it was priced like the ones twice its size. It arrived in a box that looked very very tired. My thought was that, in addition to the box, the filter might have been well traveled, too, because it seemed like a deceptive practice. I sent it right back where it came from without even opening it, as well as the two free sheet outer filters to their source, but my credit card has not yet reflected a refund and it has been about two months.
Still needing a filter, I went to the Honeywell website and ordered the proper filter and it arrived faster and is working like a charm at a considerable discount compared to stores, if you can even find them. I would not use the other company ever again but had a good experience with the Honeywell Co.
