Product description This Pressure Iron was built with the consumer in mind. The powerful vertical steam option allows the iron to be used in an upright position to remove wrinkles from hanging garments, including curtains, drapes and slipcovers. The steamer has variable steam control so output levels can be adjusted to fabric type. It has a ergonomic trigger for immediate powerful steam. A stainless steel soleplate built with non-scratch properties creates an excellent glide. The steam is distributed through a 6 foot long steam cord for optimal versatility. The water capacity is extra large, at 33-oz., for 1.5 hours of autonomy. The 12 foot long electrical cord provides greater convenience and the compact base fits most ironing boards. Please note tap water is not recommended for this iron.

Customer Reviews
3rd time, shame on me -- 2010-08-27 Other reviewers had this nailed. Now I know I am not crazy. The first model of this was just fine- fine, until it just died. So I returned it, and got the newer model of it. This time, no matter what the temp. setting, it spit water instead of put out steam. Also the steam holes in the bottom can create "dimples" in the fabrics being pressed. The temp. settings are unreliable, and I have burnt fine fabrics with it, when on the last model that same setting was just fine. I too, called Rowenta, and they "duly noted" the problem, however they said there had been "no prior" complaints. ??
I had this very same problem with their Rowenta Professional Model as well, - it spit out water rather than produce steam, and leaked. I ended up returning that model as well, and opted for one of their "Made in Germany" models in hopes that it would be better quality, and so far so good. (however this one is for personal use only).
Reccomendation--DO NOT BUY.- Until they fix this manufacturing problem.
Otherwise, in the past 20 years I have had good products from Rowenta- As a professional in the garment industry.
Rowenta steam iron -- 2010-07-30 I recently purchased a new Rowenta Steam iron. This is the second resevoir iron I have purchased. I am a quilter so a good iron is critical to my work. My irons get a workout. The iron is on for several hours when I am working and I need the advantage of using steam selectively.
Good thing I got it for free -- 2009-12-01 I won one of these and I was so excited to finally get a Rowenta. I like it for free, but if I had purchased it for $175 it would have gone back the next day.
Bulky, a handle would have been nice.
Ran out of steam with a full tank after just a half hour of steaming.
Can't see the water level.
Takes a long time heat up to steam, steam isn't consistent.
Leaked a little but I hadn't let it heat up long enough. 'Red' light went off and on a lot, didn't keep a consistent heat level to generate steam, I had to wait in between steaming.
But my major concern is that the cord from the base unit to the iron got so hot it actually let a whelt on my leg when I crossed cords. It also turned brown (burn) about a foot's length from the iron downward. Maybe it's just this unit, but I found it to be a very dangerous thing. Anybody else have this happen?
leaks big time -- 2009-09-14 I too had the previous model Rowenta, which worked like a champ with NO leaking. However it died after 5 years and I replaced it with this one. It worked fine for a day and then started leaking. I returned it for another, figuring it was simply a lemon. Unfortunately - same story. Fine for a day, then leaking ever since. I've tried spring water - even though I had used my tapwater in the previous model. Still leaks and leaks to the point it's just not useable. I am so unhappy to be let down by what I thought was such a reliable company/product. Now I'm left either trying to deal with it or spend yet more money (and it won't be on a Rowenta!).
best iron ever -- 2009-09-08 This product makes ironing a breeze. I have given three of them as gifts this year as everyone who comes to my house and uses it wants one of their own.
